I’m currently rank 8 silver. I think my max rank is around gold 8. Pre-ladder changes, my best rank was maybe rank 12. I am aware that I’m a mediocre player at best.
I’ve been getting crushed all afternoon, so I added some of my opponents. Every opponent that has accepted my friend request is legend rank.
I’ve lost about 27 of my last 30 matches, mostly because I’m chasing an achievement. Why on earth is it matching me against legend players?
Because the game feels that the level you are at. Therefore, you are going to be pitted against other players who have previously hit legend. However, I am going to assume that those players are climbing back up the ranks to legend and you just happen to go up against them as they were going back up. I have never gone up against another player who was below diamond 10 when in legend. For someone who is currently ranked in Legend, they would not face an opponent currently ranked in silver because it would completely mess up the MMR system.
To be honest… one of the reasons why I decided to actually try was because I kept going up against other players who have hit legend. And every time I beat someone with a legend cardback, I was like… hmmmm if I try hard enough and focus, I can reach legend! and I did. And you can 2.
Or people who got it playing Pirate Warrior 4 years ago, sporting the card back and roping your every turn to signal their perceived superiority over you (I know these turds)?
BTW I never sport the Lego cardback ( that’s how I know those turds) not even the day I first got it, so you don’t know how many more people you play against have made it to Legend at some point.
That’s possible. I was playing an OTK mage deck last month in unranked wild, and I was doing really well (~70% WR). It didn’t work well in ranked wild though.
A few more people accepted my friend requests, and they’re silver rank. Now I don’t understand why it bounces between legend and silver opponents.
I hit legend in wild then I swap to standard, I don’t have terribly good standard cards, not even a meta deck so I never go higher than platinum generally.
Maybe lower-ranked people play Legends because Legends play the game a lot. You may want to try a different deck though. The Wild ladder seemed kinda soft to me so far this month. I’m at Gold 6, which may be my all-time best rank. In most months, I barely make it past Gold 10. This is after switching only 2 to 4 cards in my good warlock deck, none of which are legendaries.
Yeah that’s a little odd. 10k legend players might match anywhere based on their mmr, but once you get to 5k legend or so they mostly only face d5-legend players.
If nothing else it’s bizarre that your opponents are in such a wide range.
Matching is based on mmr not rank, and lot of people after they hit legend for the month like to play all kinds of experimental/meme decks which usually makes them lose a lot of games and thus have their mmr drop pretty low.
I’m playing a garbage Greybough deck for the achievement. I probably lost a good 60 matches yesterday, so I’m struggling to understand how a legend player could have a similar MMR.
Aside from the Greybough deck, I haven’t had many wins.
