I faced 10 mages in a row before i just quit the game. What is going on? And they all play the same elemental deck. Its beyond boring. They never trade, only go face whole game no matter what.
Am i facing the same person everytime or what is going on?
Welcome to the current meta. Elemental Mage is the most popular played deck in standard right now. It’s also an extremely cheap deck to build. It has one legendary and no epics.
Its the new pirate warrior class… A relatively simple but fun cheap deck that has a satisfying playstyle.
But its vulnerable as it plays a bunch of poorly stated minions and takes about 8 turns to ramp up which is an eternity in hearthstone.
It is cheap and op, so everyone plays it. I also hate it.
There are some decks that can do well vs it, but it’s pretty op.
It doesn’t take 8 turns to ramp up, I finished other early game decks by turn 6 with a good hand and you can also do 30 damage from hand vs slower decks, that’s why I dislike this deck.
Sadly, the deck is getting more refined and better and moving up in Tier as well. High Tier, super high play rate. That’s a combination for a nerf.
Mage players are notorious for getting their class nerfed by over playing the same deck.
Blizzard, Nerf mage again they kill the class it’s the only deck playable in meta. People are going to play Blizzard Push and be the elemental fire mage in this expansion.
So they can say “Mage you look!”
This deck has weaknesses it all depends on drawing two cards at different times the first Saruun and then your build-up of Overflow Surger . However, if draw both Overflow Surger before playing Saruun you can not recover.
Again you cant possibly know anything about that, you left ultil APRIL.
Please tell your dog/cat to stop using your account its against the terms of service, and yes even if they have a higher synaptic activity then you they still cant run a Hearthstone account.

Anyways back on topic, I hate Elemental decks and I can’t wait for them to burn. When I saw they were giving it even MORE support and burn from hand I died, dunno why so few people were concerned about it.
Thanks for pointing out this amazing weakness of the deck. Also, you don’t really need Saruun to win most games because you are an aggro deck, you can also simply x2 Lamplight on 8 for like 20 damage from hand if you got really unlucky and drew both Surgers before Saruun .
I mean I guess the sauren into surger whatever can be done as early as turn 7… but the double lamplighter turn is mostly turn 8 (any earlier and lamplighter isn’t going to be doing a ton of damage).
Against some decks ya I guess the minion swarm can be enough, but realistically the finisher is going to be some hand burn or lamplighter which isn’t going to be enough damage until around the turn 8 mark.

The popularity across all ranks of Elemental mage is 18.2% at around 2.2 million games played so far. (Not counting the Chinese server since I don’t have access to those stats)
So the odds of you playing against 10 Elemental Mages in a row is 0.182^10 or 1 in around 25 million odds.
It’s insane he only has 294 posts/replies as I have seen him posting 2-3 times daily since like 2020 lol. Must be a combination of a new account and deleting all of his posts frequently.
Odyn warrior is a pretty hard counter to it, but armor druid is a hard counter to Odyn warrior, so it won’t be able to stay at levels high enough to keep mage elemental down or force them onto something else. (Odyn warrior would push them back to BSM)
And Odyn Warrior play rate just went through the roof because of this.
It’s pointing to a polarized meta for the top decks. I think we need a few tweaks here and there so starship decks can see a bit more play. Right now it’s Combo decks trying to counter other Combo decks.
Yeah, there is a ton of combo OTK going on. It’s hard to tell if elemental mage is dominating because of it being a great anti combo deck, or if the deck is particularly overpowered.
The fact Odyn warrior was shaping up to be a hard counter suggests that you can build to control it, especially with druid being able to generate a ton of armor as well, and DK can pump up their max health well above elemental Mage’s OTK range as well.
10 matches is a very small sample. The conventional wisdom of statistics is to wait for at least 40 or 60 samples to start respecting your sample size. That’s assuming they don’t rig the match making.
But I doubt they rig the matchmaking in that way because third parties would detect it from the stats they collect. It’s more likely the do accelerated swings of the MMR to prevent streaks.
