Was STACKED going into head to head, huge board, tons of health. The opponent had 1 good minion, the 6 tier swipe mech with divine shield/taunt/wind furry, the rest of board was junk, and almost no health. I had the 5 tier deathrattle kill minion on the left of the board. We faced off 4 times, and they went first 4 @#%@#!!!@#$!!@#@$ times in a row. They went first EVERY time, and their ONE minion (that I had a counter for) wrecked my board FOUR turns in row. WTFF??? Fix this NOW!!!
As is, its just horrible game design, no other way to describe it.
I lost, solely because I lost the coin toss on who goes first 4 times in a row. This game is a coin toss simulator which makes it not fun. Thereâs no strategy at all when stuff like this happens.
For head to head it should switch back and forth. Then each player could strategize based on that.
There is no bug. Itâs a coin flip. You got unlucky. If you had a better board than your opponent, going second wouldnât matter nearly as much. If you kept dying to your opponent going first at what point do you play to counter their going first? Move your minions around strategically with taunts so they canât decimate your board in a single swoopâŚ
Okay so donât call it a bug, call it bad game design (but thereâs not a forum for that so here we are, haha).
What you mentioned is exactly what Iâm pushing for, more strategy. But there are some match ups where going first is a HUGE advantage for either side, this game was just an extreme example of it. And are there things I could have done to get the win? Probably several, but thatâs not the point of this conversation.
My question is what is the down side to trading back and forth when its head to head? Cause if you want to argue the âwell, do more strategyâ card, then doesnât it push for exactly that, as well as being more fair for everyone?
I guess I just really hate RNGâŚperhaps Iâm playing the wrong game, haha. Cheers!
And are there things I could have done to get the win? Probably several, but thatâs not the point of this conversation.
What is the point though? Youâre upset because you didnât win. Is that not why you posted here? If you had won that game despite going second each time would you have posted here about unfair RNG or would you have patted yourself on the back for playing your board well?
I guess I just donât really know what you want Blizzard to do about it. The most fair play is to do an even coin flip. The board with more minions always attacks first, if you have the same amount of minions you coin flip. If they didnât do coin flips, what would you propose they do instead? Whoever has the weakest war band gets to attack first? That seems unfair if youâre loaded with reborn venomous minions or something.
Believe me Iâve lost games because I lost the coin flip too. It sucks. But itâs just part of the game, every single other sport uses a coin flip to decide who gets the ball first â itâs the universally accepted fair rule of games. I dunno what you want the devs to do about it as a âsolutionâ.
You obviously havent seen any of Neonghostâs posts.
But naw I think what they are getting at isnt the coin flip at the beginning of rounds when facing boards of the same number of minions, but more into the very last rounds where there is only 2 players left and the same scenario is being played out except that there is no other opponents they get to face against for the remainder of the game. I can see the argument being made in this niche scenario that a coin flip can appear to be bs if you lost that coin flip 4 times in a row. I wouldnt call it unfair, but unfortunate. I could see a small concession could be made that the game devs could implement that you cant go first more than two combats in a row in those final rounds but I wouldnt argue that it should be all game long tho. I get what the OP is actually miffed about and is suggesting tho, i can empathize. Not a bug, just unfortunate, but there can be a case to argue for fringe concessions tho.
I feel for you. Itâs frustrating sometimes how stupid the minions attack. Like always I want to scream loud, you have one minion left, opponent 2, my minion should attack the opponent with the lowest life, because this would kill it and I would take least damage. No, my 1 attack minion goes on the opponent that will survive instead of taking the second minion down. Not to speak about my toxic minions -for sure!- always attacking the lowest and weakest opponents of course. Maybe I am dumb, but my minions surpass me on a negative scale by far, guaranteed.
Only at the start of the game, and after that play, the ball changes hands. They donât flip a coin again. And picturing the absurdity of that scenario helps illustrate why this feels broken.
So the first round of head to head has to be a coin toss I guess, but the next round the other player goes first and so on. Therefore minimizing the giant advantage that comes with attacking first.
Another solution I think could help is a visual display indication of who attacks first while youâre in the store (next to or on top of the player icon of who you are fighting next). More info always allows for more strategy. I get how this wouldnât work if the player with more minions always attacks first, but not sure why that has to be the case.
Along the same lines, possibly the player with less health always attacks first?? But that would be a pretty big change to the entire game and not just head to head.
What could also help, but not really solve the issue, is minimizing the card designs that determine the outcome of the match by who is selected to go first. Like a divine shield/wind fury/taunt/swipe, for instance.
Total conspiracy theory, but Iâve often wondered if the the âRNGâ is manipulated to maximize engagement like it is in games like Candy Crush. I mean, I genuinely hope not because I really, really want to believe that Blizzard has more integrity than King.
