Hi. Anyone remembering Whizbang the Wonderful? It was such a fun way to try out decks and experience full golden decks… Any chance it could come back after rotation?

it is but like the OP said, it’s fun to try out new decks. When I switched from BG’s to standard and wild, it was very usefull to help me understand new mechanics etc.
Honestly, it was so rewarding winning against top tier decks with roulette whizbang. I made a few new accounts just to dust all for a golden whiz . It was so much fun
It’s still there though, just take it to wild and have fun

People did spend dust they could use to craft actual decks to play suboptimal decks.
It’s basically a noobtrap.
While it does do that, the decks cannot be edited, and you get a random deck every match.
So yeah, you need never buy a pack, but all the decks are sub-optimal. They are designed to have weaknesses so that they are NOT meta decks, and players need to change cards to improve them. And of course, the minute you want to customise any Wizzbang deck, you can’t use Wizzbang, and you need all the cards.
Also you need to know how to play all 22 sub-optimal decks (2 from each class, IIRC) because you never know which one you’re going to get. So you need to be good at ALL of them. Even the bad ones.
Its a great card for people with a limited collection, and it allows people to experiment with powerful cards they don’t own, but for the above reasons, it is very limited in competitive terms.
Remember that new/ returning players are allowed to use “loaner” decks, and after a week, they are allowed to choose one to keep. All of these loaner decks would be available as Wizzbang decks, so new/ returning players already have access to some of those decks. This does NOT mean that “loaner” decks would become redundant, because with a loaner deck, you get to use the same deck every time, which does not happen with Wizzbang.
We have also seen the dust value (and at least arguably, the playability) of loaner decks reduced now that players can get one every 3 months, as well as get catchup packs. All these changes mean that having Wizzbang available in core is even less likely to stop players buying cards.
There is absolutely no reason why the card shouldn’t be core.
TBH, the card is bad… so arguably there is no reason to have it in the game either. But its certainly something new players can try out, so what’s the harm?
While it is legal in wild, it always generates a (sub-optimal) standard format deck, making it useless in wild.
Which is exactly why it should be core.
