How is it determined who goes first in battlegrounds duos? It used to alternate between players but it changed recently and they didn’t explain how it works now. Is it random? If so, why? The new system seems worse than the old one and it’s frustrating to lose because of bad match-ups when you don’t even know why they happen.
In a game i noticed that my team goes 2 times in a row, being first…
didn’t give it much importance until ruined my entire strategy because i thought i was playing against the one with mechs and divine shields and and it turns out that they change the order.
I thought the game just trolled me…
My last game of duos was a simple alternating between us each turn. Never went first a 2nd time in a row (out of the team).
If you mean between teams? eh… i imagine its a coinflip we dont get to see that picks which side if it isnt from having the larger board or because you just got tapped into the fight because your duo partner just got cleared.
I mean who goes first in the battle, you or your team mate. In patch 30.0 they gave this note: * [Battlegrounds] In Duos, the first person in combat (between you or your partner) will no longer always swap each turn. You can still see the upcoming combat order on the scoreboard on the left side.
So how is it decided? Because i have played many games since the patch and it indeed does not always change. I just played a game where in the top 2 phase we played 4 games, and my team mate went first 3 times and i got to go first once. It would be nice to know what determines the player of the team going first now because lot of the strategies are pretty reliant on that.
- One player’s warband is summoned first
- The player who goes first is determined by who is placed on top on the “history bar” on the left.
- There is a 75% chance for the team’s first attacker to swap each combat, and a 25% chance to not swap. However, the same teammate cannot be first attacker for more than 3 combats in a row.

Can we get a mathlete to figure the odds or chances of a normal alternating of who goes first to happen all game long to say combat 15? (Me first combat 1, then team mate combat 2, then me again combat 3… just like that til combat 15).
