Where is the "fun" rank of legend?

I am about mid legend, 10k out of 20k max, roughly and people are still playing cutting edge meta deck, like they try hard for a tournament or something.

I try to experiment with earthen paladin or wheel lock and get atomized. It’s not that i don’t expect to lose a lot, i do, it’s just that those meta aggro deck are so dam efficient and powerful, it feels more like i wasted my time rather then enjoyed a game and lost.

should i tank my rank more, or will i find the same try hard at rank 15k-20k?

People prefer to not lose whatever they play. Also the game is relatively old and filled with veterans; when I started in Badlands I would see expensive netdecks filled with leggos even when I had MMR 0.; it was the era of the Reno.

Also you misunderstand how the match making is done now; it ignores rank entirely and goes by MMR; you probably play with people below Platinum now.

when you’re legend, you see the ladder rank of your opponent. I have pretty much always been matched with a legend player within 5% of my legend rank, meaning at 10k, my opponent ranges from 9.5k to 10.5k

If you want fun, make friends and challenge each other

There seems to be a weird little sweet spot at around 7k for experimentation. Above that I’m just not good enough, below that it turns into netdeck meta hell.

Yeah, I’ve seen that a bit too.

7k ish tends to be where people that are usually higher up let themselves drop to when trying out new things before they start net decking again to recover their ranks.

Below that, 12k tends to be the next band I see people trying weird stuff, and I know I’m tanking my rating badly when I start seeing those.

Now, generally, across the board you are going to see mostly meta net decks, there are just some spots where I’ve anecdotally felt more likely to run into something janky.

Because they realized they don’t care to rank more, they got the extra pack, and the main reward they get in their pocket after that is the inevitable XP.

I think somewhere in silver or gold or platinum rank is the most fun when you get other real people using their own free 2 play homebrew decks it’s like doing battle at the special olympics where no one loses everyone wins and it’s great fun

sadly, with 10 star bonus, you don’t stay long in the silver/gold rank.

You just need to lose more

I am not looking to play against bad decks, or bad players, au contraire, i love playing against good decks, just … not the aggro kind you see al the time between diamond 5 and legend.

super, you won a game with insanity warlock, you went from rank 10,000 to 9,500 in 5 minutes, playing a game this is identical to every game you play with the deck, Whoop De Doo.

It’s like they cannot break out of the drone mindset, must climb higher. It’s ok, you made it, you’re legend, now play deck like you don’t care about losing.

Carnivore still isn’t beating the hardstuck diamond 10 allegations

All of Legend is fun when you play counter meta to annoy and frustrate sweaty net deckers. Come to think of it, all of standard rank is fun when you do that.

Those two decks have both seen play in top 1k this week, and I lost to both

I know they’re not played enough to be considered meta, but I don’t think they’re neccessarily weaker than meta decks just because you can’t find them on VS report.

After all, you can’t find my deck on it, neither, and yet I’m destroying meta decks with it.

Stop the excuses and play better (or just play more - you’ll get better that way + rng)

Wut. I haven’t been stuck in diamond 10 even on my 1st week in the game.

And: bullying people for their rank says more about you than about me.
