For how vocal some are online, this community is incredibly passive. I was starting a match against yet another paladin and I was already rolling my eyes when I saw this guy had one of these krush pets. As I scoffed in contempt and prepared to emote “oops” to at least let them know I am disgusted by their support of such a shameful and predatory scam, it dawned on me: What am I doing? Why am I still playing this? What are we doing as a community?
The state of this game is currently some of the worst it has been in its history (and it’s been rough these past few years), and we all continue to either open our wallets or continue to dump hours on this game despite:
- They just released a gacha system with a pet locked behind $160 of completely pervasive incentives.
- They scrapped expansion trailers to instead do them to promote said pet.
- They scrapped boards to instead sell $80 skins with half boards.
- They ended Hat’s contract with no sign that they’ll bring him back, cutting one of the most valuable community resources and our link with the development team.
- Closed Duels to ruin arena and its rewards.
- Discontinued Solo Content.
- Continue to funnel sloppy, uninspired content with tired gameplay patterns and solve one mistake just to do it again in the span of a few months.
And the community response is what? A few Reddit posts? I have seen like 3 or 4 pets this week, I have yet to see a content creator do anything in protest beyond just saying they don’t like this or that. Everything seems normal and whales are whaling around and gulping any and all slop this company puts in the store. Maybe it’s inevitable and this rant is futile but I am tired of this corporate bull ruining videogames.
Also, we should all start pointing fingers and naming the guy ultimately responsible for this. The worst director Hearthstone has ever seen is not getting near enough heat for all this and he should.
Anyway, rant is over. Have a good one everyone.

Uh oh, the blizz drone is waking up. Did you start to realize the poop you are being served tastes bad?

I have no clue who you even are or why you think I am a ‘blizzard drone’ but please go off king I honestly couldn’t care less.

One question: Does this mean you are leaving, but plan to stay active on hearthstone reddit, and other social media encouraging others to boycott? Because otherwise, it’s just venting. Be the change you wish to see:)

I am leaving for the time being unless I see something significant to bring me back. But yes, I am 100% venting lol

I roll my eyes too. I’ve came across five seperate players in one day that had those stupid pets, and yet people question why hearthstone would make them $160? There are a lot of people in the community dumb enough to buy one.

Well, I hope it grows and we get positive change.
But what I anticipate to be more likely, is that they would simply shut the game down, after deciding they had milked it for all they can get.

Communities outside of the Blizzard community circle mock the playerbase that consumes Blizzard products. This player base does not take any form of action despite disliking the content they are being fed. It’s an infinite cycle of:
“This tastes like crap!”
“I would never eat something that tastes this bad!”
“How could you even serve me something like this?”
“…”
“…I’ll eat it anyway.”
And the cycle has been repeating for decades now. Other communities refer to you all as Blizz drones. Glad to see you are waking up and realizing how the quality of Blizzard games is garbage you should never consume it.
Be free Chapuzo. The rest of the world is not this bad.

Do you drive a Prius or a Honda? Maybe a Tata Nano?
Do you walk up to every BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Tesla, and Range Rover owner to protest their commercialism? Do you go door-to-door and ask people what their cable options are before expressing your great contempt for bundling and package options?
Do you use a mechanical lawnmower? Did you not even buy a home but live in an apartment? Do you have roommates instead? Do you actually live with your family to save on space and not waste additional resources? This includes allowing your family to live with you. Multigenerational living is very common in the world.
Do you also detest landscaping bills? I mean, how long does it take to do it yourself? The physical activity would be healthy for anyone.
So predatory the way the grass grows to make your property look disheveled. Feeling a forceful tension to subscribe for hundreds of dollars a year to endlessly cut the grass.
Let’s not even get started about the cost of eggs. When it’s far cheaper just to own chickens yourself. They have you hooked on the concept that you have to buy that little crate of pre-broken eggs. It’s a shame really. Your wallet is open like the wave pool at a theme park: everyone get in here!

And after that rant you’ll still be playing.

They will never shut the game down. Only reduce the resources until it makes sense to increase them.

One of the biggest Hearthstone content creators Ben Hearthstone is walking away from the game for the first time till things change. Guy is like the poster boy for Hearthstone.
Many content creators have been vocally upset at the HS management.
It’s not like this is all that shocking. Once MS took them over they were most likely mandated to make certain sales goals. The only way to do that was to monetize and go whaling.

I hope one day we can wake up and finally be as free and autonomous as any CSGO player

Everything in this post is so American-coded that I can’t even begin to try to decipher it. And I’m not even trying to sound offensive lol, just a statement of fact.
The below, however:
Since I am already venting about the game in general and the community in particular: Every single post you make is a pointless and shallow negative remark. Hope it makes you feel good. But no, the entire point is that I will not be playing. I have not been playing for months since I returned 2 weeks ago, so it’s not like I have a horse in this race.

You ever heard of beating a dead horse?
Cause you’re still sitting in the saddle, my friend.

idk about that. When the profit does not rise to meet the investors demands, they can and will put it in maintenance mode. Perhaps a hearthstone 2, but profits for shareholders will always dictate the fate of the game.

I mean to be fair that guy I imagine drew a salary… which is paid for by half the other stuff you’re complaining about.
You should hope they sell a ton of pets so they can afford more workers to create a better product. I imagine a lot of the other complaints is because the hearthstone team is running on the bare bones maintenance crew.
About the only argument is that they are making a ton of money and they arent reinvesting it back into the game… which has been the death of plenty of other successful games/game companies over the years.
I don’t think that is what they would spend the money on…

Aaaaand stop. More profit =/= more workers. They will just see the increased profit, and get even MORE predatory because they can see people are willing to buy.
Further, they’ll make sure not to hire more workers so they don’t “waste” the profits, and instead just funnel the extra cash directly into the pockets of the higher ups/shareholders.
I repeat: GIVING THIS COMPANY MORE MONEY MAKES THEM WORSE, NOT BETTER.
