This game is toxic AF, because the players are toxic AF, it’s never been this case for as long as I can remember.
If any game goes beyond turn 6, with any back and forth, and if your opponent happens to high roll what they need of Marin they then spend the rest of the game bming.
It’s like no one knows how this game used to be all about back and forth. Now we have just pure telegraphed game plans, and if you venture off that beaten path you are deserving of derision and bming?
Dealing with randoms on online games was always potentially toxic and it didn’t start recently and it’s not a Hearthstone-only thing. It may have the facade of not toxic if you remain in non-competitive settings; sometimes even then you have to be lucky; some people troll others even on low ranking settings.
But if you try to rank seriously on anything good luck; you will be hated by some people no matter what and not only opponents; that’s why I always say avoid team games with randoms (like BGs Duos) without knowing the teammate in advance (at least online knowing).
Never really met toxicity with any relevant frequency.
I rarely squelch. Communication usually amounts to a “Hello”, after I give one myself, a rare “Wow” emote, and the usual good game.
Once every few moons in the lands below platinum I get someone who is feeling spicy at the top ranks and they give out a “Thank You” when they eke out a win, but it’s more of a “Alrighty buddy, hope you’re happy winning for once” situation.
When you demmand that everything needs to have an easy way to be dealt with that does not require teching the game has to play this way to “not be toxic”.
That because skill is in part what you do as a player to take player agency from the opponent. Therefore unless the plans are “telegraphed” people will just evolve out of the basics and create plans not so obvious to beat.
In other words:
People demmanding less toxicity are usually the most toxic of the toxic ones.
im pretty sure this is the most toxic game 2024, non stop roping, bming, toxic decks, toxic playstyle, toxic constant hovering over cards and heroes, and toxic friend requests.
That’s not what an IRL paladin wants to hear. They want to make sure that they go to atheist Heaven by crusading against misogyny, and if there isn’t sufficient misogyny they’ll just have to move the goalposts until there is.
