What's with all the Demon Hunters?

I don’t quite understand why so many people are playing Demon Hunter.

20% of all my matches are Demon Hunters. Play rate surpasses Mage and Hunter.
Demon Hunter, according to HSReplay and VS, has a Tier 3 deck at best.

What am I missing? Is some streamer influencing the meta this much? Is DH some super fun and exciting class to play that people just flock to it?

It’s the 4th most played class according to HSReplay but it’s literally the 9th best class (2nd worse) with Warrior being last.

What is going on? LOL

I would love to face something other than curse imp warlock. I faced 10 of them in a row today and than every other match after that. I was very close to crafting the warlock questline and saying if you play that get a taste of your own medicine.

not seeing it.

I played hunters/mages/curselock in that order. Pretty sure I played a warrior over the weekend but no dh in last 3-4 days.

Perhaps they are playing dh thinking hunter has been nerfed.

Honestly, DH has been played lots since the Miniset release, IIRC, despite a 50/50 winrate.

Quote from a reddit summary of the Oct. 8 vs podcast:
ZachO says DH’s current playrate relative to the class’s winrate suggest that people do enjoy playing the two main DH archetypes even if they aren’t top decks in the format.

I am seeing DH more often since the nerfs and buffs.
The location + draw is what makes the deck disgusting (when it works), otherwise it would be a normal deck

Because a lot of people enjoy playing relic dh.

It’s pretty fun to play. Why so surprised?

Also, never look at the overall class winrate on hsreplay, as it is influenced by bad archetypes, I don’t think dh is the second worst class.

Prob has some of the biggest high if not the bigest rolls in the game right now in a since. It legit the most solitare deck in the game. You can legit make a good 1/3ish of you deck cost 5-9 less mana.

Well druid has CA but you loose all your mana etc.

Beyond that i dont understand myself.

Lol no, solitaire means you can never interact with anything the opponent does, relic dh kills you with minions and def isn’t a solitaire playstyle.

If any class deserves the title rn it would be mage IMO, for its ability to freeze the board over and over again + immune from solid alibi. This is as solitaire as it gets.

That’s because you probably play a deck that is countered by DH and algorithm decided you do not climb today. There are not so many DH out there

Idk about that my most played againat deck is dh and has been for a while as well.

I play all sorts of decks/classes.

Oh for me it means line up the right cards and win.

Fair enough and yeah at least you can interact with hunter.

Currently, there is nothing wrong with demon hunter.

Because DH has this amazing ability to either highroll the perfect BS or never draw any key card until t6 and lose (like me when i play the deck)

Just had one

T2 vault
T3 vault use #1 + damage relic
T4 vandar
T5 vault use #2 + dimensions relic

I conceded, i dont need to wait a turn to confirm if he drew the spell caster Demon or Illdiari and see them cost 1 or 2 now, i didnt have the dmg to stop them.

Its popular because people enjoy the playstyle.

I am even playing some demom hinter right now on my alt account, it is pretty fun to play, though it just lacks one piece right now, i just dont quite know what that piece is. But i will figure that piece out!!!

It’s good and pretty cool, it is also newer than the rest. Also it may have been popularized on Hearthpwn, I do not know how influental this site is but some fun videos linked there.

Oh yes, there are. Relic Demon Hunter went from nothing to 20% (!) play rate in Legend early-mid September, while being Tier 3 - a sub 50% deck. It’s still second-third most played deck in Legend, a bit less further below - there’s probably some trickle-down effect going on. Having the location and playing 1-2 juiced-up Relic of Phantasms is a pure Timmy moment. (*) I should know, lost to this scenario 2-3 times last week. :slightly_frowning_face:

It’s a super high risk high reward deck. If the relic combos hit, you’re done, finished, BBQ chicken. If they don’t hit, you can lethal them by turn 5. Personally, I think the relics need a nerf. Even though its a 50/50 deck, the reward is unstoppable and drops far too quick to counter. They have too much value vs cost in that deck.

I agree, lots of huge power swing lovers. A lot of players aren’t going for win rate, they value playstyle.

Im trying to get my win count to 500. It aint easy.
