What's the point of Starships if you release Bob

I don’t understand it’s the dev team for this game a bunch of people incapable of keeping to one thought process?

They nerf Reno and nearly all minion clears and steals so that Starships can have some breathing room, not a lot just a tiny amount not to suffocate.

Then they turn around and print a much better much more consistent yogg at six mana that even burns cards while stealing minions. And this is okay? Everything is okay? What??

Same reason they said they don’t like 3 mana Brann creating bad play patterns so they decided to rotate him out, only for them to release Permanent Brann immediately after.

The left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing.

I wonder if they will list Bob in those new year cards that get removed at rotation?

Yes, exactly… there are serious card design issues here… these developers just can’t consider any consequences before creating something anymore… Incompetence…

You mean 2025 card rotation? No… they wrote it will be rotated out only in 2026. This crap will stay with us for 1 more year… just like Unkilliax and Hydration station, (I call Hydrastation because if you kill something, 2 more spawns instead feels like). But maybe after the rotations it won’t be so big problem if it will be the ONLY remover left in the game… but until that… I don’t think it will be healthy for the game.

read bob again it puts cards in your hand

doesnt change the mana cost
doesnt fill the opponent hand with coins

and the starships dont have battlecries
you spend 6 mana to take a 10 mana card you wont be able to play on the same turn

why are you comparing it to yogg?

But don’t you think this is why they printed Bob? I certainly do. Titans are rotating, and without Yogg and Amanthul there will literally be nothing left that can stop an Unkilliax Hydration station ressurect cycle. Bob provides us with that answer. The starships just get caught in the crossfire. But lets be honest, there’s only one starship that’s actually viable and that’s hunter.

I’ve played with the death knight starship plenty… it sucks. You dump all the resources into building a massive board and then you get your payoff summoning 4 or 5 10 drops. Then you get brawled, twisting nethered, sanitized, ceaseless expansed, unkilliax walled, or yogged and it’s gone. The starship doesn’t attack the turn it drops so it never goes face in slower matchups, and in faster matchups it builds up too slow to be relevant. You win fast matchups not with the starship, but just playing death knight’s board presence and any relevant removal. Dreadhound handler, mining casualties, and threads win the fast matchups…not the starship. It’s completely win more in games you win and better off not even being there in games you lose. The rogue deck is just a discover pile, the warlock deck only cares about arconite defense so it can stall to get off wheel (its not a real starship deck), and the demon hunter starship is just an inferior pirate deck.

The hunter starship however IS strong. And bob can’t interact with it because it kills you the same turn it drops. You play biopods, you duplicate biopods and put more and more biopods into the starship, then when it’s big enough you launch it and OTK on the same turn and win.

Bob isn’t holding starships back. Starships are holding themselves back. They’re either useless or broken. There is no in between.

druid ramp and then printed better druid ramp…

There’s a whole list of stuff like this, actually.

As long as the people who spend money on the game like these types of cards, the introduce-ban process will continue indefinitely. This is the logical explanation. They are not stupid (or at least not stupid enough to repeat a mistake endlessly). It’s all about money.

that brann was never a neutral or a 3 mana

Schyla was pointing out they said O.G. Brann was broken (which they had rotated back to core for some crazy reason), then released new Brann (yes, Warrior card with highlander restriction), directly countering their own narrative. The point being (I assume) that they state a direction for the game then do the opposite.
Personally I think the whole ‘player agency’ thing was another example. Despite the vagueness of that phrase I’d argue stuff like asteroids are completely counter to the idea of agency, in a world in which steamcleaner no longer exists.

doesnt create the same play patterns because of those 2 restrictions

people been making those ridiculous claims for months they love changing words and givinng them new meaning

in wild i find better to ramp from 3 to 5(nourish ) to 8 than what we have in standard thats probably the reason the card was rotated they wanted ramp to be a bit slower …but people been claimng for no reason that “less ramp” was supposoed to be “zero ramp”

You seem to be forgetting that right after they said druid ramp is an issue, they printed Splish-Splash Whelp which ended up temp banned in standard and nerfed twice.

the first nerf was months before the core set changed and just a stat change …and the mana change was 8 months later why are you trying to make it look like less than a month passed between each change

I think Bob is awesome, I built a Priest deck around him that’s doing fine in Legend. He makes the game a lot more fun (for me, at least).

I would say it isn’t the restrictions, but the new effect (permenant instead of only when Brann’s alive) that creates new play patterns. OG Brann is usually a one super turn then you’re done. New Brann is hella weak on the turn he’s played, but every turn after you can potentially do crazy things.

HL decks often run battlecries so seeing an HL deck with additional battlecry synergy isn’t new. HL shaman with shudder and hunter tourist comes to mind.

Another thing to note is that some of the best/scariest warrior battlecries are already singletons because they are legendaries (clone zilliax, boomboss, inventor boom), and they all benefit greatly from Brann. And then they do the old warrior “armor/remove all day until they reach their crazy late game” thing. It’s basically wallet warrior with fresh coat of paint.
