Anyone have any guesses? I just began my free to play journey at the beginning of this expansion cycle so I’m hoping for a few more. Going free to play has been so good for everything about my experience with the Stone. I should have done it sooner.
However, with the new track on Battlegrounds and then adding that new currency, it’s starting to look like the F2P model is circling the drain.
since HS is an 8 year old game
the only reason to think something like this has even a small chance to happen …is one of HS competitors did it and it worked great for them
which game it was ? and how long it took for them to do it ? and how did their playerbase react ?
I’d say battlegrounds was a different case because they couldn’t figure out how to monetize it, they were not making money off of anyone playing battlegrounds, actually they often lost money because people could fund entire hearthstone collections just because they enjoyed playing this autobattler.
The collection mode being barely just barely f2p is their biggest sell point because it’s a combination of frustration of things taking too long and people having expendable sources of income and are very easy to spend that ends up in transactions and being f2p that just means they have you in their store. The only people who can’t really see that are often people on forums because they play more than the average player so accrue more f2p resources.
if they couldn’t figure out it’s because they are dumber than dirt. All the idiots had to do was raise the cost of gold on stuff like battlepass and the whales and lazy people will pay for them as opposed to work for them… that’s how these f2p models work. By taking away the f2p option of purchasing with gold they are killing the free player base and killing the game. Games like these rely on free players to make up the bulk of the playerbase, therebye making it worthwhile for a lazy whale to spend money to beat the masses without effort so they can feel better than other people. It boggles the mind how stupid these guys are.
It’s probably not so simple, they probably had various different audiences, some of which purely played battlegrounds, but others of which were fairly casual, probably who collect cards but hardly play the main game modes or maybe play sometimes, but still and even still they for some reason spend money on collecting cards. That’s the problem with having several games within one platform and allowing them to share a currency, I personally think the simpler solution was to create a battlegrounds only currency, in league of legends it’s like that and I’m sure they have had some success, I think the player base generally have a better attitude towards it being that way.
I don’t think that’s entirely true. The strongest criticisms always come from players who love the product.
You are probably right about the Corporation, though. I myself despise them.
They said they were giving a huge chunk away for free (some from core set some from a DK adventure thing, im guessing similar to demon hunter), only 11 cards are actually going to be craftable according to what I saw.
Have you ever wondered how such a wonderful game reached its real conclusion?
At different times kingdoms fell and were created, the world is Hearthstone and Hearthstone is a part of the world.
People cry because they have emotions, and many can’t see what’s in front of them, get jealous and end up taking it out on my favorite game. Sad reality .
We believe that free is great, but life is not free, living is great, but living with dignity is something better. I say working, becoming someone admired by many.
we were born free and we were raised not to be dependent on others.
Please respect my favorite Hearthstone game, my soulmate, my destiny fulfilled, my life and strength.
Sometimes the greatest fruit of life is working for money.
32 cards core set (dont trust boba about about being forced to pay for these youll unlock them by completing the DK prologue just like we did with the DH one)
26 path of arthas (craftable or 2000 gold for the set ) "49 total cards: 3 Legendary cards, 3 Epic cards (x2), 9 Rare cards (x2), and 11 Common" cards (x2)
Doubtful the FTP model ever goes away. They need to bring in new players to keep the game running. The bulk of their profits are new players buying to get into the game and those too lazy to work the FTP model. They lose so little on FTP players it’s pointless to take away the illusion of FTP to the bulk of their player base.
Weird, I never spent 2k gold for each class to get a starter set of cards
I am wondering how new players (who will start playing at the launch of the next expansion) will be able to afford a 2k gold set to play DK
There must be something I am missing; maybe after the expansion launches we will get a “bonus special event!” That gives us 2k gold?
They may even call it “not the rewards we didn’t give you during the firefestival” event, it would be thematic
