As the title says, the game has gotten to a point when i easily become bored. Right now, about 30-40% of my games in ranked are against bots which play their cards instantly, make strange plays and does not come up as “current opponent” (proving that they are bots). Obviously this is a blizzard sanctioned thing since i find it hard that such bots would be able to avoid being shown as “current opponent”.
Is there an official confirmation or statement from blizzard that talks about this? And yes i’ve heard the “haha dead game they are implementing bots” and so on. But this is honestly getting kind of ridiculous. It turns the game into a PVE world of boredom, given how often these bots show up. Sure it’s a free rank-up by playing vs one, but i’d rather test my mettle against a real human player which makes the game a challenge.
“Apprentice (new player ranks) and low internal-rating players (colloquially called “MMR”) may now face up against AI opponents when playing on the ranked Standard ladder. This will help said players have a more fun experience while learning the game. Experienced players will not face these AI opponents, and they will have no impact on MMR, leaderboards, or legend ranks. Most players advance beyond the affected MMR range upon leaving Silver or Gold ranks.”
That said, there has been some player confirmation that these bots appear in all ranks. There are multiple threads which discuss this with too much info to really summarize here
I ran into multiple bots in a row when going through gold and plat. The bots easily got me to diamond where I started only getting real players. So sad that blizzard actually puts in bots in a multiplayer game. Imagine playing wow or league and a teammate is just a bot because it helps the game…
It’s true, any rank can be low MMR, but this sentence seems to imply that they shouldn’t really be in the higher ranks: “Experienced players will not face these AI opponents, and they will have no impact on MMR, leaderboards, or legend ranks.”
At any rate, I feel like this topic has been thoroughly discussed at length in other threads
i only started to face those bots while in plat after my MMR probably droped drasticaly while i was achievement hunting
i ended up in a "face a human if you win vs a bot another bot if you lose " cycle while trying to get as much exp as i could from achievements before last patch
My MMR is kinda garbage. I usually make it to gold, sometimes platinum by the end of the season. I play some on my phone too, so the numbers aren’t perfect, but looking back at my HSReplay over the last 100 recorded games, I played against 6 players with Blizzard bot-style names: two words, both capitalized, like AdjectiveNoun. Often some combination of things like Sneaky/Funky/Hidden/Grumpy + Monk/Turtle/Squid/Pants from what I’ve seen
So it wasn’t enough to pair the worst player on the server against the second worst player in the queue, now we need to give them a fake strawman opponent to beat so they feel better. So they feel like they’re a winner.
Most of them aren’t blizzard bots though, I don’t know if I have ever seen one before. They gave out a pretty official statement saying to report them and they went away for a while or so it seemed and then they came back in numbers.
