Whats the appeal of having Jace Darkweaver in the game?

The card promotes mindlessly drawing through your entire deck by turn 8 and then a single battlecry will OTK you, regardless of your hero health or board control

Whats the interesting gameplay here? What am I playing against? What is the counterplay beyond playing a hyperaggro deck which wins pre turn 8? As people have pointed out, these decks are playing Solitaire. Non-interactive gameplay, with the same play pattern regardless of what opponent they are facing. Its beyond boring facing DH

Theotar, Patchwerk, Mutanus and Vol’jin. God forbid I defend Jayce, I hope this card disappears and soon, it has no place in current day Hearthstone. But there are ways to interact with it.

Except that now the weapon protects him from from disruption…

As KapsLocke mentioned, Souleater’s Scythe prevents regular hand disruption. Especially because you can theothar steal one of the Bound Souls, but due to the discover mechanic he’s still guaranteed to pick Jace out of another Bound Soul

I think Jace is a reasonable combo and people just like to complain.

That is fair, though it is worth pointing out that Jayce at 8 mana is not nearly the menace he is when discounted and comes in with +4 spell damage. At 8 mana (or 9 with discover soul) he is an impactful play that can be countered by a solid board to soak up stuff like fell barage.

At 4 mana it’s Oneshot o’clock regardless of what you are doing.

It is just a copy-paste of “draw OTK” from MtG. Be prepared for more.

I’m not a fan of Quest DH/Fel DH (Whichever deck) as it’s not fun to face nor play (I use the deck because it wins games and I want to climb -shrug-). I hope this deck and many others get some adjustments following Worlds (This weekend if I remember correctly).

Frankly, I want to play DK, but it’s success rate isn’t high enough and I have limited game time these days, so I’d like the time in-game to be efficient.

is a combo piece …thats the appeal… :man_facepalming:the questions people make in these forums

I mean, this is a big big reason for why some things see plenty of play.

Gating the rewards behind ranked wins sort of pushes what is popular at many ranks, with a real sweaty middle and some fun on both sides of that middle.

Jace is a real roll your eyes and concede kind of card. It’s not alone. It’s also not really a power outlier complared to the broken levels of crap that happens in otk, combo, and even aggro decks right now.

ARGUABLY Jace, current meta aside, is an OTK card by nature (just my opinion) or at least some sort of closer. If you’re not a fan of OTK, then you’re going to heavy sigh this guy every time he’s dropped.

Now, putting him back into the context of the current meta, yeah, HUGE eye roll because all the DH has done is play a non-interactive game of solitaire before Jace is dropped. If the DH has interacted with the board, it’s to A) stay alive or B) has done so naturally setting up the combo. A 10-mana Jace would certainly hurt the speed of the deck, but only focusing on Jace will not ruin the deck.

He’s just an 8 mana card that does a bunch of crap, though. It’s like Yogg except without paying any actual RNG toll. He just always high rolls. Gain attack, deal damage to good targets.

Sometimes Predatation misses and hits a worse target, but it always hits something that helps you at least a bit.

Rune of the Archmage is the same, you’re just rolling a loaded die and seeing if you rolled a 5 or a 6.

It’s literally the most brainless thing. I don’t think he’s breaking the game really, but it’s pretty awful design.

At the very least, Rommath I think is a way fairer version of the type of card Jace and Rune of the Archmage are trying to be, so maybe next year after rotation the game will be at least a bit more reasonable.

I’ve said it before, Jace is powercreep to the max. If the card had been printed a few years earlier, it would cast 5 random fel spells you cast and be done. Instead, it’s recasting half your deck.

Not true.
