What is wrong with the longer games?

I love all this trolling deck Blizzard have allow us to make, even i get a lot of friendly invite just for insult me.
I can just tell them Blizzard make the game, not me!
It is a shame so many games stop in round before round 6 and i wonder if this is a stragegy from Blizzard so players dont own so many gold?

Better ask the incompetent developers who are running this game into the ground.

Long games are not wanted, the majority are mobile games and those want fast games. Turn, whats fast? Turn 6 a 8 average ?

Kids these days demand instant gratification. Longer games prevent that.

Games being shorter is the consequence of players getting better at the game. Players are able to plan out their moves better so are able to end a game sooner.

Tell that to the mental titans I faced yesterday who were roping every turn on Ramp Druid and Fel DH.

Hey bud, you draw Fel spells and then play them and go face whenever. Save Unleash Fel to clear the board. Drop Jace to OTK.

It’s not a kids thing. Adults with lives don’t have the time for longer games either.

Really, normal people in general don’t see games as something to devote too much time on. I say this knowing I’m not normal myself.

They also don’t care anywhere near as much about balance in a video game. The average player isn’t upset about aggro or all the damage from hand. The average player is the one you see playing those all the time.

If you’re on these forums, you probably care more about this game than the average player. Again I say this while being somewhat of a forum regular myself (oh look, Spiderman meme)

As soon as Marvel Snap started outselling Hearthstone 3 to 1 the games pace increased dramatically. The days of long grinder matches are more than likely never going to happen in standard ever again.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with longer games. Game length has fluctuated up and down since the game started. It changed very little since then

While there may be some truth to that blizzard have been speeding up games for years and constantly pushing control type decks into unplayability. Powercreeping and giving insane manacheat to everyone. More draw. More of everything. And these neutrals that can end you from hand regardless what you do.

This is nothing new. A couple years ago Iksar said in no uncertain terms that control decks are unwelcome. Since then, blizzard has made rather blatant nerfs to mostly control cards/decks even in aggro metas. The vocal minority who wants shorter games has won, and those who want control decks to be viable again have mostly gotten the memo and started moving onto other ccgs.

If you have the right build you can make the game last a while.

No.

It’s not a gold limitation strategy from Blizzard.

Good job at trolling everyone. 11 replies and not a single person actually answering what the post was actually asking.

I obviously am not good enough for people to add and insult me…
Does it really happen that often?? Or is it in legend… I’ve only reached d5 …

I dont even understand the OP lol… sorry!

Facts. And like a good fact, it is empirically demonstrable. Games at Legend rank last a lower number of turns on average than games at lower rank.

You say that as if it’s a bad thing

Would you rather have the game be so defensive that you can easily achieve invincibility and game go until the turn limit is reached many turns after both players have used up every card? That is not a world I want to live it. I rather have games that end at turn 4 than games that drag on past turn 50 where the entire game is 50 turns of nothing but hero power pass.

Every time control players ask for anything they get met with this ridiculous strawman. Just asking for games to last long enough to actually play a 10 mana card (for its mana cost) and people are all “You want to go infinite in fatigue and stall to turn count, well I won’t have it! Turn 4 lethal is necessary!”

I had a 25-minute game against a mage as priest yesterday that went down to the wire. We were both just about out of cards, and he managed to discover a spell to kill me before my minions finished him off with his last card (a prismatic elemental). I may have lost the game, but kudos to that mage for sticking it out this way. Not often I get to enjoy a long game these days.

Meanwhile, most people realise there are many more options in between those 2.
