Hearthstone has always had more than its share of players who never seemed to learn how to treat other people with respect, but seriously, lately it seems like one half or one third of my games are against people who think it’s perfectly fine to waste another person’s limited free time.
I’ve never and will never be able to comprehend the mindset of a person who thinks intentionally ruining someone else’s enjoyment of something is ok behavior.
I’ve played since Blackrock came out, but it’s gotten to the point where the frequency of getting matched with these jerks is making me want to play less and less.
I don’t know what could be done to stop this, but somebody, please find a way, because these people are ruining the game.
I’m curious, are you like that to people face to face or just when online?
Im usually very chill out guy, hs brings out my troll side…
Nothing can be done, other than just reducing for all players the time.
But that would break APM decks that rely on 1 round being very long.
Apm decks should never be given any consideration in determining what an appropriate time limit is (or card animation times, for that matter). Design the game time and animation times reasonably, and then balance individual cards/decks as needed. Using time as a card balancing mechanism is such a backwards approach.
Jerks or people REALLY thinking about their moves. lol
What do you even mean? Delete high APM decks? It would be more reasonable if you mean high APM decks should have shorter animations but that’s a more complex design problem than you might think.
If you make short animations for high APM decks then you might make short animations for ALL decks as well but that would make people want even less time so you see that creates a circular problem.
It reminds of Battlegrounds that might be able to use a “Moments later…” skip mechanic but that’s a very hard software engineering problem of prediction and I doubt it’s happening any time soon.
No, I’m saying no deck or card should have ANY impact whatsoever on the parameters of the game’s timer system (i.e. the effect it has on apm decks should be disregarded entirely). And THEN, with those parameters set to what is reasonable, balance the decks as needed by tuning card values/effects.
So what do you propose as alternative, I am playing lynessa paladin solely this month and this deck is terrible to be played with only 90 secs limitation particularly if I am playing on my phone, against any lifegain decks it just lose on the spot even though I have lethal due to the animations were unable to keep up with my actions.
Yeah I have no clue what they’re talking about at this point. They want to have their pie and eat it too.
And they imply they want the deletion of all high APM decks with that simplicity but don’t admit it.
That sounds like a phone issue, not a deck issue. No change of any kind will ever make mobile play viable against pc play, it’s just an inherently disadvantaged platform (and mobile players such as yourself knew this when you decided to play on the phone). That said, there’s no excuse for a lack of animation skip from blizzard. I’d call them a small indie company, but at this point that’d be a compliment to them and an insult to small indie companies.
Now you changed the subject to a solution but at least it implies you don’t want the high APM decks deleted.
They are never doing blunt skips because they are a heavily Art-oriented company and that makes it uglier.
They would need something prettier like a conditional automatic skip but it’s a nightmare to code I bet.
Skipping animations isn’t at all nightmarish to code, it happens automatically whenever you reconnect and have to load the current game state. So a procedure to load the current game state already exists, they just refuse to let the player invoke it unless they disconnect first (hence why bg players quit and relaunch or use firewall to get their full turn timer).
You misread. A blunt skip is easy but they wouldn’t want it because it’s aesthetically ugly for the culture of the company. They would need something smarter than that and that would be harder.
So strange to me that people supposedly come from “more toxic games than this” but get their panties in a twist over players using their allotted turn time.
Especially when it’s based on what deck a player likes to play. If your limited free time is THAT precious, you would just concede and move on - it’s not that hard.
Only online. Met plenty of gamers that are super sweet but as soon as they start playing a game, all the rage comes out.
Because they’re convinced it’s other gamers’ responsibility to absorb their dysfunction. In person, it’s verbal abuse/verbal assault.
But as soon as they put on a headset, “it’s just trash talk!”
My phone is working just fine dude, but if you play a deck where you have to chain lynessa into oh manager into double coins into oracle into oh manager into double coins again and casts a lot of divine brew and holy glowstick on top of that deliver 2 blows with horn of the windlord this is not something a normal human being could do.
I think the pros here are missing a point.
I can take a long time and even run out of time .
In no particular order:
- i started playing last april
- I am old.
- I suck.
- I don’t spend hours practicing an uber deck until i could play it asleep.
Pick any combination of the above. I bet I am not nearly the only one playing the game like that.
This roping nonsense went to an extreme with the championship. Practically every round and every game had LOTS of people yelling about roping. The irony that none of them were actually in the championship was lost on them.
Those people were dumb. They weren’t roping there out of griefing, they were literally thinking the next move.
They showed a severe level of lack of emotional intelligence, because you could easily just see them thinking.
I don’t know if this still happens to you, but I know what was going on last night - server issues.
ive been complaining about this for months all your gonna get from people is shut up people are entitled to take that long i personally wish computer viruses on these bastards one thing lost that cant be gotten back is time and these stupid d-bags waste lots of it
