What is the reason for the Weekly XP revert?

At 29.2 Blizzard decided to make Quests harder to complete, but give away more XP when done:

[Progression] Some Daily and Weekly Quests have been adjusted to be harder to complete but will grant more XP.

Then, after the backlash, they published this:

We want to reward players for their additional efforts, not make those rewards outside of their reach. That’s why we’re putting together an unscheduled hotfix patch scaling most of the Weekly Quest requirements back down to a number between what they were before and what they are now. We’ll keep the additional XP where it is.

Now, they plan to completely revert everything back to what it originally was:

Reverting Weekly Quests (completion requirements and XP grant amounts) back to what they were prior to Patch 29.2;

Why is this happening, and is it really for the better? Is Blizzard trying to take away XP while framing it as a fix that the community supposedly wanted?

I can’t speak for everyone, but after the backlash from the initial 29.2 change and hotfix, I remember quests being relatively easy to complete and more worthwhile.

On top of that, we were earning more XP, which I thought was a positive change that most people agreed with. If there were still major issues with the system, we’d be seeing more complaints, but I haven’t seen anyone complain.

Now, they roll out a revert, essentially taking away all of that extra XP and claiming it’s in response to player feedback.
I didn’t ask for this… did you? Who exactly wanted to lose XP that we rightfully fought for after the debacle in 29.2?

Since they increase some packs as well at the total amount of packs: it seems like a small adjustment in the grande scheme.

I find the standard pack removal a more weird change but theoretically we could also buy standard packs (with gold).

PS there’s an official Devs’ thread about the patch in the other subforum and we reply there on it.

Manipulators don’t just take away; they give something in return to downplay the loss.

Are you going to let Blizzard pull this on you?

The reason is to force more money from playerbase.

You’re not going to find me limited on criticizing Blizzard if needed. I can barely post on reddit, because the stans downvote anything that does not praise the devs.

I dont know if it was ever mentioned but after getting to rank 100… rank 101+ used to be like 1350 or something exp to get the next 50 gold and at some other point it went up again to 1500… now I think its 1500 exp from 101+ to get 50 gold so they nerfed that as well if I’m remembering it right

The quests aren’t even harder to complete, they just take a lil more time, which as we all know length of time ain’t the same as difficulty.

Not a fan of em reverting those changes since i was fine with em, but it’s not the first time they made a change i wasn’t in favor of, as long as i can still reach level 100+ on the progress track without needing to hardcore grind all day every day then i’ll be okay

I’m getting less gold from the track since the changes, so hopefully that gets fixed with the update.

I won’t hold my breath.

I usually reroll weekly quest that force to play in other modes besides casual or standard and that require X amount of wins.

I’m in the 70s on this reward track which is the furthest I’ve gotten. But if the devs cannot stay consistent, how can they expect their playerbase to stay consistent?

Fanboys that are scared of change? Reddit or X probably. Which is way more interaction but way less quality.

They are focusing on quanity over quality. I read here and Hearthpwn and that is pretty much it.

I deleted ALL of my social media a while ago and have been spending less time looking at a screen.

The circus that is The Devs isn’t holding my interest.

I think they noticed that many people ,specially more casual players , stopped bothering with quests. Which kinda defeats the purpose,to entice people to play a bit more. If people feel so discouraged by the requirements that they dont find it worthwhile to chase the quests then they are a bit pointless.

The carrot can only be infront of the horse this much. If its to far out the horse wont try grab it.
