At 29.2 Blizzard decided to make Quests harder to complete, but give away more XP when done:
[Progression] Some Daily and Weekly Quests have been adjusted to be harder to complete but will grant more XP.
Then, after the backlash, they published this:
We want to reward players for their additional efforts, not make those rewards outside of their reach. That’s why we’re putting together an unscheduled hotfix patch scaling most of the Weekly Quest requirements back down to a number between what they were before and what they are now. We’ll keep the additional XP where it is.
Now, they plan to completely revert everything back to what it originally was:
Reverting Weekly Quests (completion requirements and XP grant amounts) back to what they were prior to Patch 29.2;
Why is this happening, and is it really for the better? Is Blizzard trying to take away XP while framing it as a fix that the community supposedly wanted?
I can’t speak for everyone, but after the backlash from the initial 29.2 change and hotfix, I remember quests being relatively easy to complete and more worthwhile.
On top of that, we were earning more XP, which I thought was a positive change that most people agreed with. If there were still major issues with the system, we’d be seeing more complaints, but I haven’t seen anyone complain.
Now, they roll out a revert, essentially taking away all of that extra XP and claiming it’s in response to player feedback.
I didn’t ask for this… did you? Who exactly wanted to lose XP that we rightfully fought for after the debacle in 29.2?
