I created a DK spaceship deck beating pretty much all Shamans.
What I learned is that you can have fun in standard mode reaching legendary without grinding.
The key is to create an anti-meta deck, homebrew to beat down the most popular netdeck out there.
Shaman is so popular this season. If you beat it, you get to legendary.
I will use this idea for future seasons.
No, I never learned this before until this season by luck. No grinding, pure cruising through the bodies of Shaman to legendary.
It’s definitely easier to pick up any of the netdecks, learn to play it and hit legend
If people listen to you, they’ll soon realize that, not only do they suck at the game, they also suck at deckbuilding.
Now, I don’t wanna sound more arrogant than I am, but the truth is, if you’re struggling to hit legend, you definitely don’t have what it takes to build a playable homebrew deck, as not even I’m able to build one which works.
Unless, of course, you count as deckbuilding to take a netdeck, copy its core and switch 5-10 cards. Although that is a big number of cards swapped out, if you copy someone’s core, it’s practically a netdeck.
I disagree.
If 30% of netdecks are some version of Shaman, by playing shaman net deck, you are basically leaving 30% of your grinding to pure luck. Those mirror matches will be 50/50.
On the other hand, if you did what I just did last week, by homebrewing a deck beating that shaman 80% + times, you are crushing the grinding by playing against those shamans.
OP there’s also a good chance you just got lucky. Shaman already has a reputation that it’s a mediocre deck and today on diamond 1-4 stats I see various decks with more players.
Where you are right is that it’s nonsense to suffer through grinding.
Personally I get way too bored lately, and just stop at entry D5.
Last season I was D10 and I was happy.
This season I started grinding at Plat 5, got some good momentum and then cruised through D10 and D5 with win streaks after win streaks. It was after the nerf and I still saw so many shamans in D10-D1 range. It was not luck.
I still not see the data supporting your statement “Shaman is so popular this season. If you beat it, you get to legendary.”. E.g. when d0nkey records about 60 thousand games of asteroid last week: then it records at least 2 other archetypes on 80 thousand. By your logic you should counter those other 2 instead of asteroid.
This reminds me those sites should report a weighted average. I asked d0nkey to include it.
what are the other two ? Cuz I was beating rogue quite easily but having trouble against Priest due to their giant’s removal.
At the time I was typing that, I was seeing more players on Zarimi Priests and Lynessa Paladin. It’s wasn’t an exact science; was mainly trying to convey asteroid isn’t played that much anymore; also way more cycle rogues and WAY more rainbow dks (I was looking only at the high win rate ones initially).
