I have had 9 different HS collections that have existed since 2014. Ten years later, looking at the profiles and class progress for each collection reveals that I prefer to play the following original classes (from most to least):
Warlock used to be up up there too but there have been a lot of design choices over the years that haven’t resonated with me. I played so much warlock that it took several years for other classes to catch up after I stopped playing warlock entirely.
Death Knight is up there too but it’s hard to pin it because the class is so young and it seems like every new expansion goes into totally different design space. I really loved triple unholy and triple blood back when it first released even though I played frost DK on WoW for years and didn’t care for blood or unholy in WoW.
S-Tier: Warlock, Rogue
A-Tier: Demon Hunter, select Mage archetypes (the more “combo” it is the less I enjoy it), Triple Blood DK
B-Tier: Other DKs, Paladin, Warrior
C-Tier: Priest, Shaman
D-Tier: Hunter
F-Tier: Druidstone
S tier: Always have fun with decks of these two classes, Warlock because Life as a resource is awesome, Rogue cause APM + actually requires braincells.
A tier: Most of the time the decks are fun, DH is like braindead Rogue, I like the more tempo oriented Mages. Triple Blood DK is the best control deck we’ve ever seen and I wish it was back.
B tier: DK and Paladin both are fine and I’m willing to play them to climb. Warrior is acceptable when there isn’t obnoxious mechanics baked into the class (Brann)
C tier: Priest can be fun when it branches out of “infinite value to win,” and Shaman is fun when it goes for more control elements (notably, HL Shaman feels great)
D tier: Hunter just kinda boring and has been since like, 2018.
F tier: haha ramp, so boring I’d rather eat a sock than play druid.
My top 4 classes are Hunter, Mage, Warlock and Druid. Rogue is probably 7th or 8th even though it’s 5th in wins because I used to play a lot of Odd Rogue back in the day.
Paladin would probably be 5th.
Warrior is 9th in wins but is probably rated higher for me, I have played many fun builds of Warrior over the years.
This triggers me. I don’t believe in equality, especially in regards to preferences.
BTW I am not answering the titular question, because I don’t actually know. What I want to believe, because I am a relentless contrarian, is that I have the most love the class that the community hates most, and the most hate for the class that the community loves the most. But I know that this isn’t true, and that what I want to love most isn’t what I actually love most. Essentially, I don’t trust myself on this topic.
In the past I’ve had a lot of fun with Mage, Warlock, Hunter, Druid, Paladin, Rogue, Shaman and Warrior. But I also really like OTK decks, and the only two of those classes that doesn’t have OTKs are… Hunter and Paladin? I think I like those two most and Priest least. Not sure though.
I have always been attracted to the concept of “knights in shining armor”.
First of all, from a physical appearance perspective, I think they look cool and elegant cladded in their armor, gauntlet, greave and holding their sword and shield and perhaps even riding on their horses. Therefore characters such as Saber and Jeanne d’Arc from the Fate series looks appealing to me.
Secondly, from a virtues point of view, they are a class that embody the following attractive qualities:
Noble
Honor
Righteous
Valor
Holy
Mercy
Steadfast
Justice
Loyal
Pure
Courage
This second point is why I love characters such as Steve Rogers.
Last but not least, Uther, the default hero chosen for this class, almost always hold a book in one of his hands. Default hero, 1000 wins portrait, Second War, Lawbringer, Judgment, and even the new tavern regular achievement one. This is pretty cool and I can relate to it as I love reading bible myself, so another plus there.
I know this way and sentiment of relating to your favorite class (according to lore rather than whether they are the strongest in the meta) is rather “unorthodox” so to speak, and if I am the only one then so be it, but I am willing to bet I am not!
For everything it represents its also my favorite class,
and the second: dk,
the concept of a character like a paladin fallen into darkness is too cool…
And my least is rogue, because is quite the opposite,
instead of thinking about others, they fall into selfishness,
you always see them robbing and killing innocents in the arts,
cowardly attacking from behind when they are off guard…
In some way i didn’t like that they linked us in the tourist mechanic but i’m glad it was just some minor sins like stealing 1 cost spells for pally…
