What are your favorite Character Portraits per class?

I’ve missed opportunities myself to acquire many absolutely sick portraits through the past (been playing ~2 years). If there are classes you ignore, don’t worry about posting those. I am very eager to see what your favorite portraits are for each class that you play. If you’d like to also include some of your favorite emotes for those respective portraits, that’d be even cooler!

I’ll start us off.

Demon Huner: Sha Illidan.

Druid: Zuen.

Hunter: Alleria.

Mage: Red Crane Jaina.

Paladin: Sir Annoy-O.

Shaman: Jade Serpent Thrall.

Warlock: N’Zoth.

Warror: Rokara of the Horde.

(Note that any classes beng excluded are because I lack any decent or any at all for some classes.)

I love Guff as a character, but I don’t have his portrait. :frowning:

At this point, I believe he may have a few now. Some of very friendly, if that’s what you enjoy. Alas, let us not forget, even emotes intended to be friendly can be used at times to indicate clear and alternative motives.

I think the biggest reasons that ‘seemingly kind’ emotes can be portrayed as insulting is when used at just the right time, after an opponent’s play or a good play of yours to rub it in.

When I first started playing HS and got into Shaman, I made a bunch of alt accounts to get the Morgl hero just because his emotes seemed the most genuine and kind-hearted and couldn’t really come across as rude.

Nowadays if I’m playing a spicy deck I’ll grab the most ironic, Disneyfied Jaina portrait I’ve got and go ham with wonder and rainbows over every highroll I get.

To be fair, I do it for ever highroll my opponent gets, as well.

Maiev- because WC3.

Lunara - “I appreciate your efforts” XD.

Palidan emotes are pretty awesome across the board. So much justice, so much light.

Thunderking has great emotes too

Deathwing - “There’s no shelter from my fury” especially good during seasonal events with opponent’s throwing out special welcome emotes lol

Mecha Jaraxxus- what’s not to love? he has it all

I like the standard emotes for Jaina and Rexxar a lot, haven’t sampled the ones from skins too much yet.

Somehow. I’ll repeat: somehow – you’re the only person that participated in the spirit of the OP. If missed anyone, sorry.

The typical forum users, often diehards here, will turn an otherwise innocent topic into something that has nothing to do with the topic intent.

@hegemonkey – Thank you, very kindly, buddy.

I have a confession to make. My intentions are often innocuous. This doesn’t not apply to all portraits, but here’s how I will usually perform in a match.

  • Kill: Greetings. (Often no simiarly friendly response).
  • I tend to leave it just at that because often times players will aqutoselch even for that.
  • Regardless as to if I am making a potentially deadly and/or game erupting play, I may use the Wow emote, meaning no harm at all – this is to genuinely voice my surprise.
  • When I lose, which happens a lot for me due to my failure that is my homebrewing, I try and always still say thank you.

I understand my intents here and none are malicious. Heck, some are complimentary to my opponent. This helps me to feel good about myself, and in the ways I emote (I don’t always), it can probably be considered friendly banter.

We need to look into our minds here, and to discover what exactly is causing these episodes that induce rage, subsequently poor gameplay, and the list goes on.

The best example I’ve learned via Behavior Therapy was that it isn’t the stimuli – it is how you react to it. This change in attitiude in what may have previously annoyed you will take time to overcome to the end result when you might even simply laugh at it.

Paladin - Prince Arthas. Beautiful artwork and it represents the countless hours I spent bashing my head against the wall trying to kill the Lich King with every class lol.

Can’t beat classic Anduin IMO.
The BM emotes, the golden hair with a golden hero portrait… Priceless.

I love Medivh. The art is as good as the original cast and the raven animation is pretty sick.

Runner-up is original Jaina; such a lethal, determined expression with accents of raw, physical appeal.

Original Valeera is also superior from an art perspective.

I was gifted Red Riding Hood Jaina and it’s the only portrait I use for mage now. The emotes she came with were cute at first but I rarely used them before taking a break. I did like to use her threaten emote after winning against an opponent who was clearly bming the whole game, “Run away little hero, run away!”

I used Guff (nicest character ever, he’s so polite even when threatening) and Cariel for druid and Paladin.

While I never play rogue, I do like Scabbs. As someone who worked as a line cook early on in life the idea of a person named Scabbs making food is really gross, but he’s a gnome so he’s also cute.

I’m a monk main in WoW so I like the celestial inspired portraits as well; Jaina, Thrall, Rexxar, and Xuen.

On the other end of the spectrum, I can’t stand original Anduin, Sir Annoy-o, Lunara, Sylvanas, Lady Vashj, Morgl, and Pirate Garrosh for their emotes and other voice lines.

Do you know if Sir Annoy-0 still causes lag when he first appears? That always bothered me. I probably would like to change my favorite paladin portrait to one of the several beautiful Cariels. I had just crafted him and so decided to choose him. I do get the feeling he is mostly a BM emoter, though.

DH Felravage Illidan
Druid Lunara
Hunter - Alleris
Mage Kel Thuzard
Pal Liadrin
Priest Madam Lazul
Rog Valeera
Sham Thunder King
Warlock Felheart Guldan
Warrior Vanndar and Young Rokara

Mage - elementalist dawngrasp (tho i love & have each of theirs)

shaman - snowman thrall; the season-themed puns always make me chuckle

warrior - annhylde

priest - tyrande; wanted to get the ice lady version, but spent too long debating if i should, so i missed it :disappointed_relieved:

paladin - cariel; they’re all dynamic the look at, but my “favorite” right now is northwatch cariel. artistically, it expresses so much action, i use it at visual motivation to take more direct action when i play the class lol

Snowman Thrall is my favorite Shaman too. Looking forward to playing him in summer.

As for the others, I still don’t have many, but:

  • Paladin: Stalwart Cariel, but I do like classic Uther’s emotes a bit better.
  • Mage: classic Jaina for retro vibes. And I think it’s really cool art.
  • Rogue: Valeera, but I’m torn between the classic portrait and the one who says something about combos (I don’t remember her other emotes)
  • Priest: I don’t know, definitely not any incarnation of Anduin. Tyrande’s art is pretty, but I like Xyrella’s accent.
  • Demon Hunter: the recent one of Illidan surrounded by very cute cats, looking thoroughly disgruntled. Would totally have bought it if I played DH. (Edited because I remembered the word “disgruntled”)

I played on mobile so they was always some kind of issue with lag/buggyness/crashes so I couldn’t say for sure if the Sir Annoy-o portrait causes lag on his own.

I believe that one is Nightslayer Valeera. Solid choice.
