What Are Wild Cards?

I am fairly new to this game and am currently at Rank 21. I recently unlocked Wild Mode and crafted a golden Bloodreaver Gul’Dan for 3200 dust (don’t ask me why, I just like it) in wild mode. But I have been reading lots of forums and people are saying that wild cards are different to standard cards.

Are wild cards basically the combination of standard cards and other cards from old expansions that have rotated out of standard?

There are standard cards (can be played in standard and wild) and wild cards (which can only played i wild). So to play Guldan, you have to play wild. But you can still use standard cards in that deck.

Wild cards are a grand total of ALL of the cards blizzard has ever printed. This includes, Rotated cards, basic, classic, as well as cards that have been Hall Of Famed.
