Logging in with secret mage, 4x mirrormatches in a row, logging on big priest, 4x mirrormatches in a row…
I think the matchmaking algorythm is kinda bonkers. I think it looks into the deck i am playing.
Anyone experienced the same lately ?
When you realize the word short is longer then the word long.

But why would they put you up against mirror decks? What do the devs gain by doing that?

Never said that i only said the algorythm is bonkers. Like the title said, what are the odds, stuff like that happens.
Also it happens everytime i am about to hit legend. One mirrormatch after another, i dont know why its like that.
You said “I think it looks into the deck I’m playing”…

Absolutly, can you tell how likly it is to get basicly 8 mirrormatches in a row in a “random” matchmaking…4 for 1 class and 4 on the other…you tell me,.
I’m asking you why would the algorithm do that? What would the devs gain by doing that??

You tell me, something wrong with that algorythm.
It does not.
Here’s how it works according to Blizzard:
At the end of each month, players are assigned a star multiplier based on their finishing rank. That multiplier can be adjusted up in some cases where a player finishes with a low rank but maintains a very high MMR. That star multiplier allows players to advance through the lower ranks more quickly, moving them up to a rank at which they meet comparable competition to their skill level. The star multiplier decays by 1 at each rank floor (B5, S10, S5, G10, etc.) until the player eventually earns only 1 star per win. (Note that the 3 game win streak double-bonus is completely independent of the multiplier feature.)
While you still have a star multiplier, you will be matched against other players based on your MMR. This endeavors to match people with similar skill levels. Once your star multiplier has decayed all the way down to 1, you are matched by your Rank. And when you are in Legend, you are again matched by MMR. Casual mode players are matched by MMR.
The matchmaking system does not look at your deck composition or your win/loss streak or if you are a paying player or if you put on clean underwear this morning. It looks at your MMR and your Rank. That’s all.
If anyone has a statistically relevant body of data of sufficient sample size that might suggest otherwise, they are welcome to post it.
I am not confinced. But we had that before. I just wanted to share a strange “coincident”, thats all.
My coincidence is far stranger. 9 games, 6 different classes, 8 different archetypes. Someone tell me how it is possible!

Why would it being Mirror matches have any significance?
Man, the last three matches I have played to advance my rank past the next floor have been against decks that I smoked and one even conceded to me! This game is sooooo rigged!!!
I can’t believe all these wins they are giving me as a F2P player. I better spend more money so I can get some losses or I might rank too high!!!
About 1/25,000 and 1/160,000 respectively.
Wouldn’t be an issue if your decks were fun to play against just saying
As Priest i play mainly against Druid and other Priest…i would say 70% of my matchups.
As Shaman i play mostly against DK and other Shamans.
Some deckbuilding suites point out that if you play a certain deck you will face class x more or you face deck type y less.
How can that be if the matchmaking doesnt look at the deck or class you playing.
And this is nothing new since its been reported a thousand times by others too, since the early days of Heartstone.
You have been targeted by Blizzard Mirror bot AI. It queues into you with a mirror deck to learn how in order to replace you with a Blizzard AI. Soon when the AI is done learning how to mimic your perfectly you will be eliminated and the AI will take over.
Nah more likly some kind of analytics engine.
Ps: the feeling you have, beeing at d6 3 stars and entering d5 with a 2 star bonus x2…priceless.
Don’t tell Alanis Morissette.
