So bots are a common topic in the forum, but I don’t see people discussing why they exist…
And to be exact, this is the bot I’m talking about: random letters as a name, using the same deck of basic minions, goes face all the time unless there is a taunt, and has a fixed delay at both start of their turn and in between moves.
I just started playing ranked again — and silver is just about only bots. They are extremely easy to beat but annoying… not only do I want to play against real players but the fixed delay is boring. Like if you made this bot, why would you lag the game up more?
I just don’t understand why someone would create these bots. They aren’t blizzard made, because blizzard has been removing tons of them. It doesn’t make sense for XP/gold/farming, because there are soooo many randomly generated bots that I doubt they will ever be used by real players down the road… anyone know what someone gains from making them???
You could have probably found the answer in one of numerous bot threads you were suggested on the right side of creating a topic screen
But here’s the TL;DR:
Some (mostly Asian) viewers like to watch streamers roflstomp people in arena with overpowered decks. Here’s where bots come to the equation - they grind gold for arena tickets and keep drafting new arenas until they find an overpowered deck and then they sell it to the streamers who use it and dispose the account.
I’m having a worse problem in Wild: bots spamming the same tier one decks, getting the same perfect starting hands every time. their names always consist of a color and either a profession or an animal (GoldLion, MauveLion, NavyThief, etc.) They’re all brand new accounts with no cosmetics, gold cards, etc. And they’re almost impossible to beat for some reason, even if they’re using basic decks. Over 50% of my games across all ranks i’ve played in have been against these weird accounts, and over 50% of those matches have been against mech rogue.
I have mentioned this a number of times in my posts. Bots are used to farm gold and other in game rewards and then the accounts are sold. If you do a google search about buying a hearthstone account, they pope up.
However, I personally would never encourage anyone to buy one as I’m pretty sure that eventually the would get banned.
However, on the other hand, some players use bots to farm gold so that they don’t have to put in the time like others players do legitimately. It’s a form of cheating, and I’ve actually had other players on this forum tell me that farming gold using bots is not cheating. But it is.
There’s always players who will cheat the system in any game to get some type of advantage that minimizes the amount of that it would normally take to actually achieve them if done legitimately.
