This isn’t a big deal. A lot of conversations digress into name-calling and mocking, and in this regard, post count often comes up. I have a high post count, and so do several others here, and it’s often used as ammunition against us.
I suggest either having a separate toggle in profile options to do this. An alternative could be to simply hide post counts when users decide to hide their profiles.
