… to this joke fest of an expack, making this game upplayabale.
But i guess if you can release a terrible OP card you will not have the skills to properly nerf it later.
This game is now a complete joke.
To those who didn’t understand… even at turn 4 this card is so warped and wierd that it should have been just sent straight to hall of fame and his designer should’ve been fired.
Probably yes: people will still lose because of an early DoL and good RNG.
But in general, the deck will struggle more: even before the nerf during this week GM games, mage was in a bad spot when lunancy wasn’t played in time.
In a sample of 100K+ games, mage will probably have a lower winrate, DoL will be played less and more people will move onto new classes (nerf = dust = let’s change deck)
The problem with this card is that it’s anomaly to this game, the only class it will really make sense in is druid really, needs to be high cost, so that you will have to sac a lot of ramp in order to make it work.
It makes no design sense in a mage, it’s so wrong in so many ways that i can’t even begin to understanf wtf is up with wut devs are smoking.
Literally 0 idea what they’re doing, and crapping on every foundation this game had.
From now on DoL will be akin to Altar of Fire. Very, VERY far from OP, yet people playing it will still eke out wins here and there- and people will be so offended they’ll be right back here om the forums crying about how OP it is in a heartbeat
I feel like they didn’t nerf lunacy enough, should have made it 6 mana so nobody will ever play it in a serious deck again. The rest of the nerfs seem fine, even though I don’t really think watchposts needed to be nerfed.
I’ve never seen any differnece playing against this deck wether it was played turn 2 or 4, the effect is exactlly the same, and it’s bad design in all the same areas.
This nerf does nothing to adress the problem of this card.
which is
a BAD design
Just get rid it or it, it makes no sense to this game, it’s like a card pulled out from another game and shoved in our faces
I’ve lost horribly to mages would played it on turn 10. It’s not like mages are completely helpless, who don’t have awesome spells in their deck they can use.
We have all seen what kind of insane ways mages can clear and develop boards on turn 3 with DOL. So on turn 4 / 5 it will be just as bad that other classes wont be able to answer.
I remember when I quit the game for a year. I didn’t make a complaint thread. I just stopped bothering to open it. One day I noticed it updating and just stopped it, and that was that.
If you believe Standard is a jokefest right now, and you’ve nothing to gain with your time from other modes, cut your losses and do something that makes you happy instead. Good luck.
The point of this nerf is to give aggressive decks more time to take down the mage. Two turns can make a huge difference in those match ups. You’ll benefit from this even if you don’t play an aggressive deck. The deck will have more counters, so you should see less of it.
If you can prepare for it by turn 4 you could have prepared for it on turn 2. The point is more likely that their data showed it wasn’t nearly as strong as people have been claiming so to just give them something they made it cost 4. Limiting the card pool to remove card draw options and glowfly swarm would have been all it needed if anything as it wouldn’t even “confuse” new players as it could still just seem random.
