Let me preface this by saying I know nobody cares about Zoolock. Everybody thinks it’s boring and stupid and Warlock mains are itching for a control deck that’s viable. But I care about it, so I’m gonna complain!
It looks like Warlock was ‘solved’ two days into rotation and then promptly did what zoo does best – seems pretty good in the beginning but as time goes on becomes less and less relevant with a declining WR and player base. It’s really infuriating, to be honest. I feel like Warlock is trying to play fair when every class around it is cheating.
Perhaps this is punishment for having the best Hero Power in the game. I think Blizzard wanted Warlock to be more lackey focused, but going full lackeys is just really bad and doesn’t fit Zoo’s gameplan. I don’t want to spend an extra turn setting up lackeys so that I might pull off Evil Recruiter. I need stats NOW. I need big bodies NOW. Not in a week, not tomorrow, not in a turn, NOW!!
I think it’s a combination of being bad in this control meta, but also the self-damage package really starts to take it’s toll on you in other aggro matchups. You’re not being as aggressive as other decks, and you’re not controlling the board as well. So what is Warlock doing? I can’t trade minions effectively if all my opponents basically don’t play any minions.
I’m staying positive. I still think Hearthstone’s fun right now. It’s just I really wish my favorite class felt as powerful as the other stuff out there right now.
Yeah, Warlock hasn’t received any great late-game tools for a while. The Quest just isn’t good enough to create a high-tier deck on its own. Even if you complete the quest with Plot Twist, what then? You still need a finisher, and your new hero power just isn’t enough to do that reliably.
That’s the third post or so I’ve seen that keeps thinking Blizzard only wanted Zoolock to be more lackey focused this expansion. Far from it. If you want big bodies now, are you forgetting about Neferset Thrasher? That’s a huge 4/5 for only 3 mana. Also synergy with Diseased Vulture, which summons a random 3 drop every time you take damage. There are also some neutrals that are very useful as well.
I honestly prefer this style of Zoo way more, with the mid-range bodies, than the all-in Carpet Zoo we had last expansion, that kept running out of steam.
I feel like you guys are ignoring the statistics of Warlock in general right now. Zoolock’s performance across the board is getting worse and worse you can’t deny it.
What statistics? That it’s a tier 2 deck? That it’s win rate is higher than 50%? What about zoo makes it not playable? Bit anecdotal so take it how you will but I just watched a streamer get to rank 20 with a zoo warlock
That’s not what tier 2 is. Absolutely not. Warlock is playing a deck predicated on board control where the meta revolves around no interactivity with decks like control warlock and freeze mage being tier 1 and less of a focus on minion combat. Warlock will continue to sink unless something shifts in the game. They need help.
Yeah sorry not sure how to respond here. If you’re going to make up your own tier list definition to suit your agenda I can’t really discuss this any further.
The quest is too hard to complete for a tempo playstyle. The reward does not produce any value outside of your deck. The reward is also random so it does not work reliably for combos. Basically it does nothing well.
Change the reward to (2) add a treasure to your hand.
Or make it a passive; all your cards cost 1. That brings it to almost pocket galaxy’s level.
Sure we can deny it. In fact, I’m pulling crazy numbers with Zoolock right now. Im having far more success than I did last expansion and I don’t even run any of the new lackey package. Also, Mage is the only mostly non-interactive match up I can think of off the top of my head. We’re also heavily favored in that match up. Most of the time it’s them scrambling for answers. Their new secret just isn’t enough to slow me down if I play intelligently. Sorry, but I think Zoolock is great right now.
Now, if you want to talk about literally any other Warlock deck? Then I’d totally agree with you.
Ok then make it that you don’t have it guaranteed on opening hand if you’re going to compare it to other cards that you can only have 1 copy in your deck.
Well, Zoo isn’t good against Warrior. And it’s not good against Priest. And against mage it’s decent. But the best classes in the game completely handle Warlock and so far in the pro tour not one single person has brought Warlock.
Warlock’s going to fall completely off the radar unless there’s some sort of significant buff in the future or the top classes get nerfs.
