Warlock Buff Suggestion: Lord Jaraxxus

Reduce the mana-cost of the Lord by 2. That is, make our guy 7 mana. This poor and lonely hero isn’t seeing any play. Paladin, by turn 6, is capable of playing their questline reward which emulates a similar effect to Lord Jaraxxus, and it doesn’t even see play competitively. What’s that make Lord Jaraxxus? Entirely unplayable.

I will add, as has been talked about below, I realize the speed of the meta presently and that’s the reason for many high-cost cards being unplayable. I am not denying this is an issue. However, I am simply suggesting, specifically, that Lord Jaraxxus be buffed by a 2-mana reduction so it can be made playable, again. There is nothing wrong with that. Is there? If you’d like to suggest other cards, with similarly high-mana costs be buffed, or that the meta be slowed down, feel free to do so.

Here’s a fun clip:

Alas, this is a rarity nowadays.

To be fair, the reason Paladin Quest doesn’t see play is because of the need to run so many 1 mana cards. If it was just “play Paladin cards” or something, it would’ve seen play in every single Paladin deck.

At this point I’d say it’s better to wait for the next expansion. Jaraxxus after its previous buff saw a lot of play, only dying down this expansion because this expansion made the meta exceptionally more aggro than it has ever been before. The problem isn’t that Jaraxxus is unplayable currently, the problem is that ALL high-mana cards are unplayable currently, and just buffing 1 of them doesn’t solve the problem while buffing all of them would just make the game unplayable next expansion if that tones down the aggro (and we all know they won’t un-buff all cards at expansion release).

I’m not trying to solve the core issue that is high-cost cards are typically unplayable (which is somewhat debatable) due to the fast meta. I’m trying to see Lord Jaraxxus playable, specifically. What’s wrong with that?

Jaraxxus doesn’t require you have a deck full of 1 drops.

Who said it did? Not me. I was comparing Jaraxxus to the closest analogue we have in standard: Questline Paladin. I didn’t say that the cards are exactly the same. However, Jaraxxus is less viable than Questline Paladin.

No he’s much better than Quest Paladin, because he adds 1 mediocre card instead of like 10.

Do you believe this would push Jaraxxus over to edge to be OP?

As an aside: you’re right. My analogy was flawed, and the fact is (after looking at card-data) that both the questline and Jaraxxus aren’t being played, virtually, at all. i shouldn’t have made the comparison.

Jaraxus was op un the previus expansión, a Lot of people Say it need a nerf, now the only warlock is quest, and You Say it need a buff XD

I’d like to play something other than the forsaken questline. Also, Jaraxxus was not OP last expanson.

He would be so busted at 7 mana.

If you wanna run something other than the quest (which version of the quest?) then zoo lock is probably the answer.

If the quest mage nerf actually does something, control can maybe make a comeback too.

I know you like a lot of my posts
so I want to like this back
but I cannot in good conscience do so.
This idea is bad
and despite what Zoidberg says
you shouldn’t take it too hard.

No need to like the whacky ideas that pop into my brain that I compulsively post here. I’ve given up on the suggestion, truth be told, but am not allowed to delete the topic.

During the last metas, 7 mana for Jaraxxus would have been fine, but once control becomes more viable, J. would be too strong, especially at the start of a new year, when the powerlevel is lower.

Yeah, you guys are probably right. I hence forth disavow this suggestion.

Wait 2-3 years, Blizz will buff J. to 6 mana, since it would else be totally unplayable.
(one mana 4/4 minions with a decent battlecry for aggro are very scary:P)
