So Mage total trash that only takes games from Shaman and Warlock and losses to everything else ,cool whens the next nerf.
" Its popularity is highly driven by how much it is liked by a section of the players, who continue to play it regardless of its win rate"

" Shadow Priest is now the top-performing deck at the higher ends of ladder"
And Priest nerfs incoming we cant have that class at the top.

I suspect your analysis is spot on.

When priest has an aggro deck you know the game is facked.

So day 1 of the of the game???
Because thats when Priest first got an Aggro deck, everyone is so used to Priest only doing 1 thing they forgot all the archetypes the class had in the past.

Shadow Priest was a thing years before this expansion .

I’ve never seen a priest aggro deck before now. I’ve seen midrange and control. No aggro. But then again, I’ve spent most of my hearthstone career ignoring priest altogether. The class feels bad to lose against no matter what it plays.

yes! this proves that i did hit legend using a t3 deck two times in a row!

that said, they are kinda completely off with their quest rogue build for this meta.

The stealth variant was great last season, prenerfs, because there were more fast combo decks like otk dh and d6 warlock. But with those 2 gone, out of countless different variations over more than 50 games or so with the deck, i can confidently say that the Watchpost build is far superior for this meta. (both 2 cost watchposts and 4 cost watchposts as well as neophytes).

That said, they did say that not a lot of streamers play it and so it is unrefined, so maybe that’s why they dont have stats for this variant (which to my knowledge has seen play in top 300 in apac region)

It was a thing. It wasnt a good thing, but it was there in small numbers, I suppose.

Good enouth to take me to Legend multiple times in the past and many other players…
Epic · Minion · Goblins vs Gnomes · Battlecry: Deal 3 damage to each hero.

Common · Spell · Legacy · Deal 5 damage to the enemy hero.
Rare · Minion · undefined · Your cards and powers that restore Health now deal damage instead.

Lets pretend this cards never existed.

The BEST Aggro deck.

Wasnt good enough to be even remotely meta, and 2 of those cards arent “day 1” cards.

Spawn of Shadows is a 6 year old card and all the rest over 7 years if thats the hill you want to stand on…
Theres no possible dialog with you ,goodbye.

It wasnt a good deck, regardless of you making legend with it. Priest wasnt even good until TGT when Dragon Priest became sorta ok.

The most played deck basically only wins vs 2 decks and apparently that’s enough for Mage players to nod their head and be like “yeah, winning 2 but getting beaten up by 10 is TOTALLY worth it”.

Imagine what changes could happen if people stopped playing Quest Mage and allowed for the meta to have to find a real answer to Quest Shaman and Handlock. Mages are secretly doing both of them a favor by being stubborn. Mages are like their own worst enemy.

I have said for years that players play what they have cards for.
Mage players are not going to spend a fortune in cash, dust, or gold to build a new deck in a different class, and most are not going to learn a new style of play, even if that style is similar to what they already know, and not even if it wins considerably more.
People are creatures of habit and this game is no different.
That is why I stand by what I have always said.
Trying to force changes to the playrates through nerfs is a dumb idea that doesn’t work nearly well enough.

I mean. Those two decks make up 40-50% of the decks I play against. I imagine that’s similar to other people. I feel confident in the mirror, and I’ve teched devolving missiles for paladin and a few other matchups to up my %.

there’s nothing I can do about aggro decks since control decks aren’t even that good against them and have like 80-20 matchups vs the other half of the meta. What do you want us to play lmao.

Mage has by far the lowest win rate % of all classes i play…
Guess what i still play the most ,hint above lol.

I’m honestly surprised how… decent? Finale mage is. Like, the counter play is just don’t kill their board when they stuff it with garbage statted elementals for a turn. Because they don’t have board space the pay off they get with 8/8’s is small.

I believe it is this way with far more players than anyone realizes.
Players chose their favorites based on what they feel reflects their personalities, or; whatever.
Are there players who aren’t that way and play what wins? Sure.
But I suspect there are far more that play what they feel an emotional attachment to, and trying to manipulate them into doing what devs feel is healthy for the game simply will not work.
Logic and reason have no power over emotional attachments.
Not in this game, and not in life…
