You were kind enough to tell me that you ran 2x Heat Wave, Star Power, and Tidepool Pupil as a part of your anti-Aggro package. I think you mentioned Orb and Zilliax too somewhere, which gives your build things in common with the current berino91 BSM build of the day:

I’ve experimented with a lot of different cards in BSM, but I have yet to try Heat Wave and Tidepool Pupil.
Surprisingly, I am encountering little aggro in Diamond. I am even pondering if should pull the Star Powers out of my deck.

BSM is going to get nerfed for 2 simple reasons:
- It is legitimately broken.
- It isn’t fun to play against.

To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone
The star powers are big for orb to help it deliver more damage face when it gets to the 9 and 10 cost spells.

That makes sense. I tried Orb in my deck, but I cut it since I do run Surfalapod and not enough other spells to support playing it.
I just completed the Marin Quest while at D3, so I might experiment with taking it and the Star Powers out of the deck.
thats why i have orb inside etc with a couple other tech cards
Do you think, as it stands right now, BSM is some kind of meta tyrant? It’s sure popular, that’s beyond question, but is it powerful?
As it stands, the deck loses to the same decks that beat it before, and these decks will rise up in the ladder pretty close to the same place they were previously given the abundance of new prey.
It is, however, pretty dang forsakenly hard to outvalue a fully planned Orb: Even if you just run Star Power, Voley and Tsunami, you can dump 25 points of damage in the board, summon a 10 cost and 4 - 3/6 that attack on the same turn, and it can be repeated with Conniving Conman.
I do believe the best approach to BSM will be somewhat close to what I was running pre patch: Figure out how to cheat out a spell in the mid game and either repeat it or drag the game to the late turns against faster decks, or use the powers of Artist, Tide and Skyla to cheat out spells early and dump orbs on the board before later, more control-ish decks get you.
He was wrong (again (I’m not surprised)). There are plenty of pain locks without speaker stomper (or even cult neophyte) doing well on top legend against mage specifically.

He won’t agree because that would mean he’d have to admit he was wrong and that just isn’t going to happen because that would mean I was right and that eats him up inside.

People underestimate that the OBSCENE SPEEDS of pain lock overcome various strategies by mere brute force alone. Sometimes you just don’t draw any defense fast enough; sometimes the pain lock will high roll a little bit better; they will just have check mate on round ~4.
And btw Smeet’s deck is the best deck based on limited samples (albeit hundreds); it probably transforms the deck to a more well rounded “combo” mid-range; I do not have data for it (I keep asking the hdguru guy) but I suspect the avg time per match is higher.
I think your list might be better with the 2 drop discover a discounted mage spell, or the 1 mana deal 2 get a fire fly over pupil. If the plan for this list is to defend yourself early, i feel like those cards are less clunky and actually buy you more time on early turns before you can proc pupil. You dont really need more value, youre already gonna blow out most greedy reno decks
We were already running that and it got cut.
Pupil really isn’t so much for the value but for the Heat Wave Quick Draw for early boards.

If we get any nerfs or buffs it won’t be till next Thursday most likely. So we have at least a week+ to see more complaints about it.
Yea i assumed it was for another heatwave a lot of the time, but it just seems inconsistent compared to just having another cheap removal for the early turns before you can proc pupil reasonably.
If you are mostly trying to protect yourself from faster decks while waiting for the big spell plays. i dont thin pupil makes much sense because by the time you proc it, youre already transitioning into your power play turns
there are probably plenty of times where you draw pupil and no other cheap removal to pair it with where it could have been another cheap removal spell instead to increase the consistency you would be able to defend yourself on early turns
If not for heat wave it’s extra star powers, big spells, or discovered stuff from Infinitize.
The coins definitely make them slightly questionable, but I haven’t hated having them around. They have been way less awkward than sea shill.

Oh nice. Honestly I’ve considered doing one of those streamer donations to play my deck so that enough data is generated on it to be visible. I’ve felt confident in what I’m running because of how easily it brought me to top 1k, but I don’t have the wide data metrics.
It definitely is on average slower than the regular BSM list. It still has high roll potential, but it isn’t laser focused on it. It’s more than happy to let games be drawn out and win with an orb or two.
Fun thing I realized yesterday is that if Zeph gives me vanish, a Conman after orb will bounce itself to be used again.

I found out when digging for nourish with zeph that ice block is in the “spend a lot of mana” bucket fyi

Its funny because I haven’t seen any nerf dorian/eonar/marin threads when it functionally acts as the same deck.
If you nerf BSM those 3 cards have to get nerfed as well.

You’re not allowed to talk about the Druid overlords this way. They are allowed to do broken things so says the high Druid Council at Blizzard HQ.

The notion of “overpowered card” is dumb. There is only “overpowered DECK”; if that weren’t true then Priest should be deleted from the game; its copying and stealing cards were some of the most obscenely “overpowered” cards if you only look at cards and not decks.
Quite embarrassing that VS pretend to be professionals at giving advice and do basic errors of that sort.
