It’s only day 4.
The Meta is unsettled.
But, we usually get Balance Changes early in the Expansion.

Lightforged Cariel Hero Card. I don’t really care if this card is ever changed, but it is dumb.
To me, Guff is only annoying because of Kazakusan offering Broken [AOE] Cards.
- Book of the Dead
- Staff of Scales
- Wand of Disintegration
These 3 cards extremely easily turn Embers of Ragnaros into an OTK instead of a High Damage Spell you can actually attempt to play around through the board.
Man, you really hate Kazakusan, huh? I can’t say I blame you. The card is a bit ridiculous.
Right now, I think the card I like least is Switcheroo. Followed closely by those Mecha sharks.

- Raid The Docks
- Defend The Dwarfen District
- Mecha-shark
- Seafloor Gateway
- Switcheroo
- Radar Detector
- Lightforged Cariel
- Kazakusan
- Guff
- Snowfall Guardian
All of the above should be nerfed in some capacity.

How would you nerf Lightforged Cariel? I’ve complained about the card before but didn’t gain any traction with players here.
This hypothetical is meant to ask that if you could change the card, how would you?
Cost upped to 9 mana, weapon loses durability with every swing, possibly reduce charges from 5 to 3.

I like that suggestion. It bums me out but this card is really an I win card in many cases. At the least, that darn weapon needs to lose durability. And this isn’t even to mention its hero power.

To me, Hero Cards should be one time effects with very minimal Hero Power Upgrades.
Like Zul’jin from Rastakhans Rumble.
There are a lot of ways to shift Cariel towards that, but it will never happen anyway because Blizzard’s Hero Card Philosophy seems to be that Hero Cards should be dumbydumbdumb Scape Goat cards.
Scape Goat Cards, meaning that when Player1 Draws theirs and Player2 doesn’t, Player1 is heavily favored. This is my opinion because Blizzard buffed Dawngrasp to reward players for just slamming it ASAP and spamming Hero Buttons.
I play Combo Decks anyway and the Hero Cards don’t bother me on these decks, so I’m not mad.

Jesus way to kill a card, you better hope the resident Paladin doesnt see this.

Just giving it the Scabbs treatment.
Wrong nerfs in the past doesn’t justify more of them. With mech mage and quest hunter being able to pump 15+ damage per turn, negating half of them isn’t even that useful.

Both those decks should ofcourse be nerfed aswell in conjunction with Cariel.
The card would be too slow at 9 mana even against normal decks. If it gets too strong decks simply run weapon removal. The handbuff is meant to be a win condition. The lack of hand disruption is the real problem.
I don’t think it’d be a terrible idea to make Cariel lose charges for each time it halves damage. I realize I could be running Viper. I also realize there’s no guarantee I’ll have it in-hand.
Gah, hate this hero more than any other. Yes, I’m biased.

You can use small spells to entirely ignore the effect. But allowing small spells to also negate the effect so that your big damage goes through makes the card far worse.
Warsong Wrangler + Rustrot Viper can easily deal with this in any aggressive hunter deck.
“Just run this 1 tech card and make sure to draw it”. 50% damage reduction in a class that has access to healing/taunts is to strong.

Forgot one type of cards:
- discover/dredge+draw minions feel too efficient.
Previously to gain resources, you needed to sacrifice a bit of tempo - you needed to play spell (which costs mana), you had to play minion, which was weaker (2/1 for 2, 1/1 for 1) or some other disadvantage.
Somehow this expansion introduced 3/2s or 2/3s for 2, 3/4s for 3, which allows you to keep up the tempo while drawing/discovering more minions and at the same time having the tag, so it continues with the snowball.
This kind of effect is usually taxed by 1 mana, but somehow this time around is not.

I hear ya. It’s definitely counterable. I don’t use hunter all that much. I do play a lot of warlock, though, and currently Pirate Warrior. I am embarrassed to say that I play PW, but it feels like the most efficient way to climb right now.
If I’m being objective, then no, I don’t believe this card deserves to get nerfed and/or die. Subjectively, the card simply feels horrible to play against, for me.
