Updated Free Decks for New and Returning Players

The decks awarded to new and returning players have been updated with Patch 25.0! Returning players who have been away for 90 or more days will be eligible for a free deck just for logging in. Returning players will be eligible to claim these returning decks each time they are eligible. New players will be eligible for their free deck after completing the tutorial, the Starter Quest quest chain, graduating from the New Player Ranks (Ranks 40-1), and then returning to the main menu.

Players will get to borrow all these decks for one week following their eligibility, so they can try them all out before making their choice.

It’s possible players may not see their chosen deck in their deck lists if they do not have an open deck slot when they choose their free deck. The cards for the deck (aside from the Core Set cards) will still be added to their Collections. They can clear a deck slot and use the deck codes below to construct the decks. Core Set cards are free to all players and are earned by leveling your account. Cards may be added to, or removed from, the free Core Set from time to time and are not a permanent part of players’ Collections.

There is something wrong with the system if the decks can change while players are testing them like happened this time. Imagine playing with a deck a few days, and then suddenly being unable to keep it as promised. There should be a choice between keeping the former, or changing.
Having said that, this decks are quite better on average.

I thought I’d get the selection to pick from all of the decks I was testing and that they just rotated, so I could test more. I would not necessarily say this selection is better than the last, I was winning a lot of games with that priest deck and DH would have slotted in with my collection perfectly. Now I am looking somewhat forced into picking the druid, some of the others are okay, but I already have picked up a few legendaries from these sets.

The decks are better on average (dust cost, legendaries, etc), but the selection of classes of course will depend on preferences. I agree Priest and DH decks were good, and were replaced by other classes. There really should be a deck per class as before: it’s really absurd that players that like certain classes are left apart.

They are not really better in terms of dust value, it’s an almost identical spread of epics and legendaries. It may look better on paper, but actually include a lot of legendaries that are from core set and epics from the track so maybe you are mistaken.

The argument one could make is that they are worse because you can no longer select bless priest, I was having a really good win ratio with that deck and it was only a few cards short of being a top deck as per the VS Syndicate report.

Now I don’t really worry either way, I picked up guff and well it doesn’t help me much right now, but guff is still guff, I will make it work at some point.

As I said, I understand your frustration with the change and the selection, but the new decks are undeniable far better. It’s easy to see comparing the decks that remains: the Jackpot deck has one non-free legendary more (Crabatoa), and 2 epics (Gravedigger). The Hunter deck has one more legendary (Inchman), and 3 epics (2 Devourers, 2 Wild Spirits, -1 School Teacher).

It’s not really frustration, I still picked up the same amount of legendaries and epics, just that these epics and legendaries are less useful to me in their current state.

I already had one of these hunter legendaries and I had Scabbs from the rogue one so that makes little difference to me. The priest deck that is no longer there on the other hand is basically 3200 dust off of the best deck in the game, so you could have grabbed it, bought like two legendaries and had the best deck in the game. Whereas with hunter there is a deck there but it costs like 10k extra dust. You cannot just assess on the basis of pure dust value because the bulk of the cards are not ones you would craft and whatever value they have to you is well just that, maybe the legendaries that you don’t think are useful have about 500 dust value, whereas a valuable epic that you would craft is still worth 400 dust, the priest deck had 6 good epics that you would probably craft if you wanted the best deck.

It’s okay though, I realize that with my collection and the new set I’ll be missing 100 rares so I’m just going to retreat to classic mode for a while and play catch ups.

Why do the “standard” cards not become " Owned"? after they have rotated , they should s till be our cards even if they are standard now, example Tess greymane and vanessa vancleef, these 2 cards DO NOT belong to you even if they “gave” them to you for free, please fix this

Please fix standard cards not staying in your collection. leave it as is now , not disenchantable, but please give us the cards in general? why do i have to craft these in order to own them if you are “giving” them to me for free

everyone loses the free core cards that rotate no reason for that to be different for returning players.

I’ve just realized @GnomeSayin is spelled to sound like “know [what I’m] sayin’”!

Yup and I just got forced to pick my decks the day before this change so I got stuck with the crappy decks lol

@GnomeSayin, sorry for being off topic, but can you give us more avatars? With the release of Death Knight, it’d be nice to have some of those.

It would be nice if players who didn’t play on other servers could take advantage of this.

@GnomeSayib…

A little off topic, but this is very important to me…

Can someone tell me, was the N’Zoth portrait EXCLUSIVE to the purchase of the Madness at the Darkmoon Faire mega bundle? I’m arguing with other players that it was not exclusive, and therefore, Blizzard can resell it to their heart’s desire.

As someone who purchased this bundle, and loves the portrait, this is very concerning to me. All feedback is welcome.

Thank you.

90 days? Was it not 120? Should I wait for next expansion, would i get more value? More standard -last expansion cards?

It definitely was originally 120 and reduced to 90 days
