They seem quite aware of how closely players are looking at earnable gold, and Dean lays it out pretty plainly that it’s going to be about the same or better, even declaring intentions to tune it up if need be.
This isn’t the old era where Hearthstone is the only major CCG in town. MtG and LoR are very real competitors, I don’t think they’re willing to bungle this.
I know they’ve been improving the rewards system over time, but I still have doubts on this. The major advantage of the current system is to purely allocate the resources to your personal preferences, and not just the current fixed standard pack rate. While for most of us, this isn’t a big deal, but to some it can be a major push back.
Another issue I see with this is their calculations on the rewards. Fixed reward amounts means that they are really gonna have to make the Battlepass worth it to compensate for a large number of players who make 8-10,000 gold per expansion and not some paltry number like 5k. Many players including myself will be quite angry if our earnings don’t amount to 10k or more.
What about diminished returns? 8k in pure gold value is often more valuable than 10k in diminished returns. If they’re giving us redundant pack openings instead of letting us save up for the next expansion, it’s not fair to equate the value of one pack to be the same as 100 gold.
They have improved Ranked Rewards and Pack Duplicates which have been a major bulk of a player’s earnings, but it’s too early to say what the result of this Battlepass will be like especially for us hard grinders who average 80-100 gold per day.
It’s still just words, didn’t refute the survey numbers, didn’t come up with preliminary numbers, just words.
gold you earn per expansion should remain relatively flat from what you earn now. This should make your ability to buy packs on day 1 similar to what you get now, but with more non-gold rewards added on top.
Great, only the gold I earn can differ wildly from someone else. Based on their initial numbers, I find it difficult to believe you can make as much gold, on day 1, with the new system, compared to now if you did a max grind. (up to 100g+quest daily)
Until they release some actual numbers (whether they will fine tune it later or not), I will remain cautious.
You just voiced a pile of my concerns. Team 5 is well known for selling an idea as one thing then unveiling something that isn’t quite what they advertised.
Wondering if their “experience” earned on quests will work more like LoR, where your experience updates weekly chests. The higher the chests get the more stuff you get.
It doesn’t matter. I’m not here to fight. I just doubt that the system will be as good as Ayala claims.
I suspect that ThinIce has the straight of it. The system will have the potential of the same rewards, but the reality will be less for almost every player.
this forum has already made up its mind, no matter how much the devs says it will be better the forum trolls will just keep claiming the opposite. even with actual in hand results after implementation the forum trolls will likely keep claiming its worse
That’s because some of us have years of past promises that we base Our opinions on as well as personal knowledge of the people making the claims. If it turns out to be better, then I will be the first to say I was wrong as I have many times in the past.
I have doubts about the BP but everything at this point is speculation on our part so no reason to get upset. Hopefully they pull it off, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Something that has come up a lot is the idea that you will no longer be able to obtain the packs you want on day 1, and instead will get a ‘drip feed’ of packs over the expansion.
Doesnt this contradict
This should make your ability to buy packs on day 1 similar to what you get now, but with more non-gold rewards added on top.
I dont fully understand what they are trying to achieve with the new system. I hope you can still earn enough gold for the BG pass by clearing 3 quests a week.
Or will gold be removed completely? It all is a bit unclear.
He said that we, the community, are concerned about it and directly addressed it to state, clearly, that the amount of gold on day 1 if you save up an entire expansion won’t change.
We shall see if the message is clear as We all know that no company reveals everything when advertising.
“It’s not what they tell us. It’s what they fail to mention.”
HS’s record on transparency isn’t any better than any other company I can think of.
