Twist Meta, so far. It's way better than Standard/Wild

Twist > Standard/Wild by a lot.

Twist Meta so far:

46 Games Launch-Yesterday, I played as only Divine Spirit Priest.

6 Druids, I think they were all Pure Ramp builds.

2 Hunters, I think they were both Face Hunters.

3 Mages, I think they were all Secret Mage builds.

2 Paladins, One was Control, the other was Aggro.

0 Priests, It’s probably tier 1 or S though.

15 Rogues, Pretty much all Jade Rogue from what I remember.

3 Shamans, 2 Jade Shaman and 1 Aggro Shaman.

9 Warlocks, 7ish Reno Decks and like 2 Zoo Warlocks.

6 Warriors, Around half Control the other half people trying Patron Warrior.

So, the Meta was mostly Jade Rogue and some Reno Warlock, it increased as I climbed too.

Really Early Power Ranking Speculation:

Tier 1: ???
Tier 2: ???
Tier 3: ???
Tier 4: ???

It’s actually really hard to say compared to Standard when an expansion launches. With way less Discover in the mode I think decks can be tuned to counter others a lot harder.

The one medium hot take I can make is I think Patron Warrior won’t be that great because of the stupid Discover Cards thrown into the game from the Caverns of Time Set.

Post your Tiers because I want to see what people think.

I hecking hope this isn’t going to be another apocalyptically dead-game season. We need Vicious Syndicate or Tempostorm to make Meta Reports and Blizzard to make the price cheaper.

11 minute queues on average over a 3 week period is a great way to make players really stop caring about the game. Make the Price Cheaper because the Cards-are-not-playable-for-as-long-as-they-are-in-Standard/Wild or the make Rewards Better so people actually care. The Brawlesium coming up could have been for this Twist. The end of season rewards could be much higher, just limit it to like top 30 legend, so people don’t slam out legend then literally never play the mode again as 16ish/20 of the players in top 20 did literally 2 weeks into a 4 week Season.

This mode will die sooner than Merchant

I don’t think it’s quite fair yet to form a solid opinion.

Don’t get me wrong, the mode is fun…even if it will only last a month.

Because the mode is so new, the meta is fresh. So naturally, it feels very diverse. That’s a plus. But give it a week or so and it will quickly thin out as streamers post decks.

For example, Jade Rogue is swarming in decks because Zeddy was playing it. As more streamers do this, these other decks will thin out.

However, the fun thing about the mode is that it doesn’t feel like you’re getting scammed like Wild and Standard are right now. There really isn’t any huge OTK thing going on except for C’thun, but you can visually see that and know about where you are and what damage you can expect so it doesn’t feel as bad.

What I found really weird is that both you and Melphina saw zero to little Priests…yet in my 30 games so far, 9 of them were priests…go figure.

Could not agree more.

Power Rankings:

Tier 0: Discard Warlock.
Tier 1:

Jade Rogue? Kinda conflicted on this it could be Tier 2.

Reno Priest, only adding this here because i had great success with it against mostly everything, requires focus to make it work though. Even outvalued a C’thun Warrior which managed to play Brann into C’thun, and had very much success against Aggro, but again it requires focus to be “Tier 1”. Lacks a win condition so it loses certain matchups … but oh well. Tier 1 in the hands of a good player.

Tier 2:
Face Hunter: as much as it was strong then, 1 health minions were very easily cleared while i played the deck, a lot of Control tools have been buffed to come out earlier and Hunter can’t keep up, dropping it to Tier 2, personal opinion of course.

Reno Warlock: I only faced it, so i might be talking out of my #ss here, but it felt okay, therefore worthy of Tier 2.

Tier 4:
Jade Druid: it’s too slow.
Ramp Druid: the ramp “targets” are not worth ramping to, susceptible to both Aggro and Control.
C’thun Warrior: There are only 3 good cards on the deck, and Warrior lacks the card draw. Again … i only faced it so there might be a refined deck that does it better, idk.

The rest i feel like my opinion will be biased on, Shaman i just cleaned it up because i was playing Control, Paladin i actually did not face, Mage i played 1 game against and won which was a regular Alexstrasza into burn deck, which i also beat.

As for the deck i used:

All i can say is, the mode is amazing, and i advise even new players to buy a battle-ready deck (only if you are willing to spend the 20$ though, not with Gold) and try it out.

Blizzard has done a great job here, and people need to be open-minded to see the beauty the mode has to offer.

Also, have you had success with the deck you linked, because i’m thinking of trying it.

Ya, every matchup felt winnable.

I’ll know in a day or so for sure though.

It is not better than standard. The cards show their age, even when you get to 10 mana the games feel faster. Also aggro seems to be stronger than in standard (which is not good).

It has been so long since i had this much fun in hearthstone. This meta is leagues better than the first twist.

I’m 16-6 with this deck, climbed to diamond 5 with it so far.
This deck destroys aggro decks.

Agree with OP, most fun ranked mode now (if you have the cards you need, and Arena is still the best overall mode.)

Disc Warlock seems pretty broken though with the new location. If that deck trends to more play, seems like it could be toxic.

It looks fun. However give it a few more days and I believe the meta will be only Discolock and Jade Rogue.

I don’t think Jade Rogue is very good, I beat it with C’thun druid all the time, discard Warlock is pretty op though.

My one complaint about Twist is that rogue seems pretty overtuned right now. It’s not horrendous or leaning towards being tier 0, but I do think it’s in the top 3 decks right now and is kind of crazy how much steam the deck has and how good it plays through all phases of the game.

Removal heavy decks are pretty good against it so priest seems viable but it is quite a bit stronger than most of the things running around right now.

I like it using Jade Druid atm. Gives a third ever fluctuating meta so it’s good in my book. Hell of a lot better than classic which was a terrible idea because despite what the forums say OG HS was not some grand wonderful chess game. It was dull af and the game woulda died without new sets quick.

I’m enjoying the scramble of figuring out what works.

Started with Jade Rogue and won a lot, but got wrecked by Discard Warlock. Tried playing that and found it to be pretty feast or famine. Now climbing with Taunt Warrior.

Not entirely sure being just a bit above a bar so low is meaningful. It looked like the same few decks over and over again just like standard… at least wild has a little variety

Standard.my mmr appears to be stupidly high, I faced a dozen different decks that all boiled down to control and a otk. 50% warlocks,30% priests and a few arcane hunters.

twist, I actually cared and pretty much played

no otk decks.

twist pretty much every deck I saw was different sure a couple of jade rogues but otherwise quite different.

wild 3 games, 3 quest mage.

standard I must have had at least 10 games against warlock that played out the same way every time the location to spawn extra rush giants and the portal to spawn a screenful of taunts.

I’m quite enjoying it so far, but so it happens that 2 of my favorite decks of all time are at the top (jade rogue and disco warlock). Unfortunately the buffs and the new cards powercrept hard the decks from that era so it’s been a struggle to make different stuff work like highlander or the other 3 old gods, but overall it’s just so much better than standard, I might even skip the miniset and start spending my gold on twist.

I’m playing jade rogue, because I don’t have to craft cards and it’s one of the fewer played classes of mine.

Overall the meta is ok, I’m just worried that it might turn into control vs. infinite value (jade druid). Otherwise, it’s a bit like the old times.

This twist is proof people don’t know what a good meta even looks like anymore. Shameless cash grab by bliz, forced decks that are only prevalent because they were intentionally made to be over powered with buffs.

I remember playing wild during the time that these sets were the entirety of wild. This meta is more swingy and aggressive than even wild back then.

It is telling that in a meta where patron warrior SHOULD be viable and with BUFFS, it is unplayable. I have no faith in this team. Sure gets people spending money/dust on those caverns of time cards tho.

No otk decks in twist, only discard lock that is worse than any otk decks. At least against otk decks you have a chance to disrupt them or get out of their otk range.

Better then wild sure, but wild is so freaking god awfull that it isnt saying much at all.
And both formats dominated anyway by same freakign rng heavy deck.

Location has over 70% muligan winrate, 10% above 2nd highetµst muligan winrate card in twist.
Deck is beyond busted.
