Seeing as everybody seems to view control priest as cancer, I’m trying to build an aggro priest in standard. It might just be because it’s a deck nobody has seen, but, it stands up against the meta in diamond (but I’ve only played 6 games with it so far). Needs some tweaks, for sure, and aggro isn’t my playstyle so I’m probably not doing it perfectly. I can say for sure, though, that unless priest gets more card draw, all you’ll ever get is control, or miracle priests which even I think is a disgusting deck.
I’ve tried aggressive priest decks lots of times. It doesn’t have the minion base needed for true face-smashing. It also doesn’t have the card draw to go for true tempo. It always feels like its this close to being viable.

If we still had Kobold Sandtrooper and Leper Gnome a Rally aggro priest could work, if we had better draw that wasn’t a minion you could drop VReader which would make your 3 drop from rally much beter.
That’s the feeling I get, too. And, of course, the point of priest, power and all, is to not be another aggro class. But it would be nice if all classes had options.
Priest shouldn’t be as good at aggro as hunter or DH but it would be nice to have something. Right now it’s Tier 4 trash at best.
How well is this working for you? It feels too dangerous in an aggro meta because you need apotheosis to keep it from killing you. Especially in a world with rush warrior and trampling rhino since it effectively turns rush minions into charge ones that also control the board.
Pain priest idea, you self damage yourself and then heal using Devouring Plague or normal healing to pump out early Giants. Generally, as the aggro deck, your opponent will be much more focused on trading than hitting your face so in control matchups to get early tempo with giants you need to be able to damage yourself.
I only beat stuff like warlock or priest by cheating out giants by turn 4 or 5.
Against aggro decks, you can play a lot more greedy and focus on sethekk value trains.
TLDR: you hurt yourself with Raise Dead, Soulbound ashtongue and Hecklefang Hyena so you have stuff to heal to combo with Giants and Crimson Clergy
Not into sethekk, I hate it as a mechanic and I only have it as a soft taunt and a 2-cost body for Rally!. Miracle priest doesn’t feel like aggro to me.
Giants look like a nice addition, I’ll see where I can slot them in.
Totally. Such a shame, too. All priest needs is a better “draw a minion” spell (like, 1 cost, or a 2-cost draw 2) and it’d be a huuge improvement. Discover is such a gross mechanic – it’s unsatisfying to get hit by perfect rng counters when you have them against the ropes.
I had daily to cast spell so I made a no minion mage and played it for the first time, and it’s just filthy the discover answers that kept showing up. I beat a priest so badly and everytime it was discover or top deck free spells that just shut down his plan every time. Then evo to discover the last two fireballs to his face and GG. Horrible.
Because my control priest destroys paladin and I don’t like the feeling of how paladin plays. Also, I prefer to try and build something new than play the same meta deck as everybody else.
I’d auto-concede against mages if I didn’t hold hope they played DoL which priests can manage pretty well . Mage and spells, for sure, but I like to play on the board because, you know, it’s there. Plus, priest has no face spells.
