Tired of the totem spam. Wave after wave of degeneracy. 7 out of my last 10 games were against the same deck. Hoping it’s a me problem and other people aren’t experiencing the same issue.
Good thing Reno is a hard counter to even shaman then, isnt it?
The deck police is stupid; by definition, the most popular deck is the one that most people are playing.
You don’t get to tell other people what decks are acceptable.
I never said it wasn’t acceptable. More so annoying there is hardly any variety in wild. I’ve been playing wild since it was created and majority of the time abused decks get dealt with. All I seem to play against is totem shaman with an occasional pirate rogue sprinkled in the mix. It’s getting out of control. Hopefully it’s just my rank that is the problem.
Oh, so what your problem really is is the bot infestation in wild. Even (totem) Shaman and Pirate Rogue are extremely heavily botted due to their linear game play. I would hazard a conservative guess that over 50% of your opponents playing these decks are player bots. You just dont know the indicators of player bots, so blame the decks instead.
I found that Pirate/Weapon Mage does well against them
Any deck that can clear 2 or 3 different waves of totem spam before they have the ability to snowball seems to work fairly well.
Similar to pirate rogue I don’t see the deck as an issue from a power perspective. More so the fact it’s the only deck I see and playing against it grows really old. I don’t understand why some decks get hit with nerfs and others are ignored and left to fester and grow stronger overtime until it’s seen in over 70% of my matchups. For now I’ll just assume d5 to d1 is plagued by totem shaman and I’m stuck in a pocket meta with little to no variety.
I’d be willing to bet 80% of those you see are bots. Very rarely are real people playing that deck.
Probably more like 90% tbh.
Yeah the main problem being it’s a popular deck so people want to play what is popular also I’m assuming quite a few bots as well get mixed into the pocket meta. At least the month is coming to and end.
That is what Wild is now. Nothing but bots and pathetic loser aggro troll crap. There are almost no playable games in Wild now.
It’s gone downhill and nobody to blame but the devs. Some stuff they completely ignore and as a result botting becomes an issue.
The real issue is it can literally be piloted by bots to legend making the most brain dead plays(turn 1 totemic might with 1 totem on board etc). Just nerf all the bot decks, I’ve seen maybe 3 humans playing even shaman in months
Best way to get to legend in wild is run at least 2-4 different forms of cheap removal (depending on highlander or not), some kind of healing, and some way to remove the big minions. I think ETC Band Manager and putting in an additional copy of removal AND Theotar are really good to swing problematic matchups. I got to legend rank 471 this month by playing highlander elemental shaman (not the dumb OTK variant), and the matchup spreads were basically shadow priest, totem shaman, OTK highlander shaman, quest warlock, aggro paladin, and random OTK decks.
Basically, everything outside of the OTK decks you can counter with the cards and is one of the reason highlander decks are so popular. I also think it’s one of the reasons why shaman is one of the best decks in Wild atm. Just play decks that have good draw, efficient minions, some kind of healing to get you over the turns 5-7 threshold, AoE and single target removal, efficient minions, hand disruption if possible (ETC for removal, disruption, and Stealer of Secrets), and preferably an aggro or midrange deck so you can push damage every turn. You don’t want to be on a clock against anything trying to OTK you.
That said, mage, paladin, shaman, and shadow priest are all good at all of these things I mentioned. I actually think midrange mage with a wincon is better than secret or OTK deck for Wild for climbing. Top 1000 legend changes quit a bit.
I could honestly care less about trying to reach legend. Just waiting for the end of the month to reset ranks.
I’m actually hoping for even shaman every time I queue up right now. My Reno Paladin has so many clears that I haven’t dropped a game to one yet.
I mean that’s fair, Legend climb can be a slog. But I mean this just very generally. You’ll see a lot of the same decks before Legend as well. I think you can play a lot of different homebrew (which is what I did) as long as you check off the boxes I specified above. That’s equally true for any class you want to play in Wild. It’s not nearly as bad as it was 2 years ago where it was very much ‘you play these decks or you lose.’ Still kind of that way but there’s a lot more flexibility.
Aggro becoming stronger has actually opened up a lot of variety in the format, IMO. I even got away with having 50% WR with Lucentbark after I ended my climb.
Totally agree!! I’m bored of playing against Totem Shaman. Its like every game. Sometimes I win, sometimes I don’t but it’s same every time!!
