Top 1,000 Legend, here's a few things I've learned during my climbs

From 1k Legend - Diamond there’s so many variables to account for that climbing is just a hellish dice-roll.

Some people play meta decks…

Some play wacky meme decks…

Some play cheese decks…

Some are 1 trick ponies with 1 class…

You really don’t know what you will face up against and there isn’t really a good all-rounder class right now since druid got nerfed.

At rank 1 Legend - 1,000 Legend the player pool is much smaller and most people are simply playing the best decks with the most optimal builds.

Teching is actually consistently effective because you kind of get a read on the players in that mmr bracket and what they prefer to play.

You also stop seeing Shaman and Warlock and that makes things much easier because you no longer have to account for those classes.

VS said it is more likely that you see a Mage cast 2 Solarian Primes in one game than you see a warlock or a shaman in top 1,000 Legend (Podcast episode 19)

It’s been a real breeze, currently at ~400 Legend and climbing.

Weird that many people playing in this bracket aren’t even that competent with technical play which helps even more.

It’s just getting past the atrocious mmr system and meme shenanigans that’s the real challenge but once you’re in top 1,000…

You’re just set (plus you’re very likely to get the 11 star bonus at the start of the new season which helps you skip climbing).

The only thing that sucks is there’s no real reward for being here…hopefully the announcement on Thursday will change that because a measly pitiful reward once a month for being ‘Legend’ is incredibly greedy of blizzard.

I’m glad that players are leaving when there’s no incentive to rank up right now.

If someone’s F2P and they made top 1,000…they should get boosted gold rewards or packs every so many wins while at top 1,000.

It’s a shame that it has taken Blizzard so long to start rewarding the players who have invested time (and/or money) into their game and actually improved.

This is actually hilarious! (or sad, it depends on the point of view)

Yeah, probably both.

The fact that they have stats to back this up is what makes it hilarious.

Can confirm, I haven’t seen a shaman or warlock since being here.

The only one’s likely to play those classes here are the streamers and they probably only do it for the viewers…not because they’re good lol.

tbf there is the occasional gala warlock that tries to replicate jarlas success in countering warrior

I’m currently in the top 1000 now playing a soul fragment Warlock deck. I’ve only played a few games with it so far, so it’s too soon to make any conclusions about the deck.

Warlock has always been my favorite class. I find it difficult to give up on the class entirely. Hopefully, it will be able to recover in the next expansion.

cough don’t try galalock if you meet too many DH’s…

It isn’t that people are too incompetent, it’s just that people play too fast or on the other hand don’t have enough time.

Generally I play the strongest move I first see. Is it the best? Very often not; still, I don’t care.

Sometimes you don’t have enough time for math or don’t want to calculate if you have enough damage for lethal in the next turns or need to trade.

Popular streamer make mistakes all the time, even extremely obvious ones. Most people don’t realize the mistakes they make (you and I included). You know your secrets/cards, your opponent doesn’t. It’s always easy then to find fault with his play in retrospect.
