Thoughts on patch?

Been playing a bit since the changes, overall, I find the meta less fun than before the changes, but pretty similar to before change as well.

Generally the field has gotten far more aggressive, with DH coming back nearly unchallenged in several forms, outcast DH and relic DH, both ridiculous mana cheat decks are back on the menu, I personally preferred playing against spell DH and Big Demon DH. Both outcast and relic DH are janky decks to play against. TBH, so is spell DH, the only decent experience for me has been against Big Demon DH. I think this is a direct result of devs completely fumbling the nerfs here, either a Lady S’theno nerf should of gone in, or Unleas Fel, or both.

Druid nerf, as predicted, is nearly unnoticeable in control MU, and in aggro MU is probably 3-5% drop in winrate on an already absurdly low winrate, probably pushing some MU from 30% winrate to 25% or lower. This change, also, I don’t understand, definitely seems off the mark.

The UHDK nerfs seem to have done something, the class has fallen off my radar completely at t500L, and seems to have been replaced by a resurganced of frost DK. Once again, DH with the Unleash Fel awfulness keeps frost in check, the Reno on T6+ is too much.

The buff to Warlock’s symphony seems to have reignited interest in big undead/demon warlock, but the interest seems short lived. The deck is incredibly fragile, a single silence can utterly destroy its game plan altogether, unless it happens to miraculously get the symphony + Thaddius combo off. The one interesting property of warlock is it seems to properly spank nearly all DH variants, but generally dies to hyper aggression unless it mulligans really well.

Warrior? I’ve seen enrage warrior come up once, and it looked good, but it’s one of those decks that would probably get destroyed by control priest.

Control Priest and BDK seem to have completely fallen in popularity, not clear why, I was thinking these two would dominate the meta. I’ve been farming them as Tony Druid (before changes), and with them gone from the meta, I’m basically queueing into a death-sentence queueing into shadow-priest, enrage warrrior, or w/e flavor aggro is popular.

Overall, meta very much similar with the same gross decks back on top. No new interesting classes or decks breaking through, is the meta solved? Likely. Unfortunately so. The hope that the changes may have breathed life into the meta is looking more like a pipe dream at this point.

Im surprised at how inept they are at really bringing about change in the game. It was obvious the patch prior to this one was intended to shake things up… but it really did nothing.

This patch seemed like they wanted to shave a few tenths of a percent off the winrate of a few decks and they probably did so.

If they really wanted to bring new decks into the fold they’d have to do way more buffs/nerfs or even rotate some wild cards back into core. It seems to me they either took the fearful approach or they’re internally ok with how things are now.

With that said I like the game more now than I did prior to the expansion. At least now theres no hey I froze you out of the game by highrolling something on turn 3. Fast decks may be a touch too fast still with some pretty snowbally openings but compared to a few months ago with roguehighrollshamanevolvestone the game is beareable if not stale again.

I’m loving the applebaum change. It’s really slotting well into control priest to the point you can now build an undead rez package instead of a thief package. And it hits like a truck if the enemy can’t react to it fast. Loving it.

Dh still feels super strong, specifically Outcast DH, and even Big DH.

Warlock greed decks are starting to rise with rivendare and curse iterations that punish any late game decks. And the Jailer symphony combo is back. Jailer Tony combo is coming down on turn 9. If that becomes meta, everyone is going to hate this game lol

I ran into savjz running this, I assumed he was trying to build the archetype himself. I figured he isn’t doing to well with this I got matched with him probably because his MMR is high, but he was 1500 plus legend at the time and I was closer to 300. He beat me because he ran a silence in his deck and I was trying out the new big warlock by nohandsgamer, entirely destroyed my plan lol.

I haven’t seen this in the meta, what’s the plan with this Applebaum build?

Think Control Priest but instead of Thief package you run an Undead package with Applebaum being the cheapest undead. Rivendare, Behemoth, Bonecaller, Muerte, etc.

I’ve always thought the Thief Package was not the ideal way to run Control Priest. Identity Theft is a dead draw on 3 vs aggro that you can’t afford to play. I cut it awhile ago but was having mediocre success and doing great vs aggro and other decks that Thief Priest struggles with. Now with the Applebaum change, you can really stick it to aggro and then pack a punch vs Blood DK and other decks.

You wouldn’t see it because Melphina just showed me her Undead 30 card build and I morphed it into my 40 card deck and seeing success with it. It’s much stronger than the Thief version for sure.

I’m hating it more and more with every BG. It’s fun when you win, but when you get throttled it feels worse than ever. I’ve never wanted to throw my phone into a Blizzard this much. Pun intended.

What would you consider interesting?

Dying to 32 attack Trenchstakers?

Getting board blocked by a bunch of cheated out giant Taunt Undead and Demons?

Rommath Lightshow OTK?

What are your top winning interesting decks from back in the day?

Wouldn’t DH also go full aggro if they nerf what you want and lose their comeback mechanics?

I swear, we’re dangerously close to that deck being an absolute wrecking machine. All it needs is an early game package. The weapon is disgustingly good. I think in the next 1-2 expansions if Warrior gets early support it’s a mega meta deck.

It needs those to be minions.

That deck wants minions.

After hitting legend and playing like 30 games around 5k legend, I don’t really care right now. It feels like every time I queue up its a deck tailor made to be the scissor to my paper when I’m targetting a rock, if you catch my drift.

Queue up control priest? Nothing but druids.
Queue up aggro? Nothing but control priests.
Queue up a meme deck? Get aggro’d on.

Probably time to start editting my lists, but I’m just playing other games at this point.

Yeah, so a few early game minion types that help with board control and that deck is pumping. I have a feeling once new card are introduced, some of the buffs that deck received might be toned back. I’m hoping it gets support but not too much support. It already has a very scary end game.

Why no Plaguespreader?

Because you don’t want to hit your minions. Rivendare, Svalna, Applebaum, Behemoth, etc. Interrupting combo is done with Theo and Dirty Rats, not Plaguespreader.

There has been changes but frost is now number 1 again if im right.
The applebaum buff is also a step in the right direction giving defensive tools better healing and boad presence.
Control warrior is not figured out yet but il go more greadier if i was gona play that to get good value of from the depths.

Imagine if Warrior had Starscryer and could run 29 minions and BRnR.

The best thing about Undead Control Priest now is that it obliterates Frost DK. I love it.

Mind sharing your list and how needed is theotar i dusted mine long ago.

Hit me up tomorrow when I’m back in game. You definitely need Theo in ETC to break up some super strong combos, especially in Mage, Warrior, Druid, other Control Priest decks and Big DH matches.

The worst part about it it’s a gard mu for miracle rogue. And I’m seeing this bs more snd more xD

Speaking of autopliot decks. It’s one of them.

Good luck buddy usually as miracle rogue you want to end the match very fast vs frost death knight idealy you want to beat them turn before 7 - they dont always have the spell but i try to play around it - and if not have spell damage from hand to just burst the remaining hp down that is usualy how i approach the matchup.
