Monster Train is similar too. They are similar to the old hs dungeon runs but a bit more fleshed out and challenging.
If you want to try serious strategy games the civilization games are always great. I’d start with 5 but I’m biased I never got into 6. Then there’s stuff like xcom that might be worth looking into. They’re probably all really cheap these days.
Once I spent a bunch of time on other games I remembered we play them for fun, and it helped my outlook when I eventually did go back to HS. I used to occasionally hit the leaderboard in wild bit I’m a far worse player now since I don’t take it as seriously, but I have a much better time.
