This game is the worst it has ever been

if you lose every game check your mana curve and your conditional cards (youll end up endign too many turns without spending mana if your deck has too many of those )

a lot of players dont play the best decks out there youll find players like that eventually

Would you mind posting the deck you are playing?

This game is certainly a skill game. People who know how to play do better… sometimes. I’ve built a mage deck that does well against the DK meta, but there are some decks so loaded with ridiculously over-powered cards that I just can’t counter. F2P players are at a distinct disadvantage. Calling someone a troll for pointing out the obvious reveals who the real trolls are.

Personally, I have no respect for people who look up meta decks and build them with their wallet. No skill is required to do such a thing. I usually play them for a few turns to see if I can break through. Sometimes I do, but most of the time I fail and just concede and move on. Perhaps the original poster should do the same. I still have fun doing just that.

BTW: The warrior card that lets you gain attack when you gain armor for the rest of the game is too much. I have beat them with my FTP decks but it is very difficult to do so.

Let me explain what I did starting on the last day of January.

I hadn’t played Ranked for about 18 months, although I continued to participate in discussions about Ranked on the forums and had rather strong opinions. I started getting called out a bit on not knowing what I was talking about because I ā€œdidn’t even play.ā€ As if I just forgot everything from two years ago while I was talking about it every week. I think that’s an invalid argument, but I also thought what the heck, it’s not hard.

So I go to Ranked for the first time in a long time and the game just offers me a full pre built deck. I picked the Paladin deck, then I crafted a few cards out of Dust, it couldn’t have been more than 1000 dust because that’s what I had from before, then I started climbing. I spent zero real money. I made Diamond 10 in less than 7 hours because almost all of my opponents were ridiculously easy bots using mostly neutral cards. I made Legend on the 4th. I had the 1st and the 4th off of work, so I barely played on the two days in between. I played pretty much the entire day on the first, and I was prepared to play all day on the 4th but I made Legend before dinner and quit.

Basically, it took me a ā€œnormalā€ person’s single weekend, start to finish.

So here’s what I believe you are wrong about. I think almost everyone who has better cards than you, at least 80% of them, are also free to play players who have spent zero money. I think that the first thing that free to play players who make excuses for themselves do is greatly overestimate how many players spend money on the game. I think that the players you lose to are absolutely better players, either in the sense that they develop their free to play collection far more efficiently than you do by not wasting dust on bad cards, or they pilot much better than you, or both. I think that making your own decks is stupid and that there are strong meta decks that are very affordable. And I definitely think that the inability to make Legend is almost never a time issue, never a pay to win issue, and almost always a skill issue.

The only thing I feel I was substantially wrong about was the bot problem. It shocked me. I had definitely downplayed how common bots have become and how ridiculously easy they make it to climb quickly.

Do you have a friend who can sit with you while you play? If that is not an option, maybe you should bring a stuffie or a pet?

I do not understand why it is difficult to play alone, but I hope you find some relief.

Excellent point.

IMO building a deck that works is the most satisfying aspect of the game, and there are many others like me. Isn’t that the entire point of collector card games like this one. Seems pretty stupid to call such a thing stupid. Just saying.

Let me explain why I take an alternate view. Before last November, I stopped playing 2 years previously. I had never reach higher than the 1st level of silver. Past that I would win a game, lose a game, win a game etc. Zero progress but I thought I could play because otherwise I wouldn’t win at all, would I? OK, 2 years on and I start to play again and as you say, I got a free deck but more importantly I got the opportunity to get a lot of the cards that I missed while absent through the packs that were on offer for the gold that I had accumulate before my moratorium.

Suddenly, all my made up decks from these cards are winning from between 56% to 75% of my games and I rush all the way to platinum which is a significant jump. The following month, I repeated the success but it was a lot easier because of the bonus stars when winning a game. Now we come to the 3rd month and the Delve into Deepholm set appears and my decks don’t work anymore. I am being beaten consistently by decks with some of the new cards in them.

I don’t care what anybody says, "if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck.

The more cards you have, the better decks you have and the higher you will go on the ladder. Any claim of skill other than in the decks one might devise is complete and utter BS. The only possible exception being a complete fool who has no brains at all. He will lose no matter what cards he has.

I was just killed by a patron warrior otk from a highlander paladin. The wrong people were laid off. They need to clean house.

To clarify, I spend some amount of time making decks myself. It is indeed extremely enjoyable when it works. But I hold my creations to very high standards which means that I deem pretty much all of them a failure at the end of the day. It’s a great way to waste a bunch of dust on nothing. So when I said it’s stupid, I didn’t mean that it isn’t fun. It’s very fun. And stupid.

If you waste dust building a deck you aren’t getting it. Make decks from what you have. Any satisfaction I gain is from beating meta decks with my own ingenuity.

Bad game is bad, news flash but enough whales keep this game right above ā€œprofitableā€ so it doesn’t get the HotS treatment.
