Ramp has just become way too powerful and way too consistent. After banning and then nerfing Splish Splash you’d think they might learn. Allowing a class to very reliably get multiple turns ahead and then steal mana or cheat out high value minions is just brainless. There is no counterplay in a game like Hearthstone.
Right now in top 1k legend about 80% of games are Druid or Warrior. The power level of these decks far exceeds any other decks.
Things that will get nerfed:
Ramp - There are games where druids can be at 15+ mana while the opponent is stuck at 5. This creates a game that is brutally unfun for an opponent and locks the person out of being able to play any sort of counter.
Ziliax - With Unkiliax being able to come down on turn 4 there is no reliable counter that exists in the game. After which you will have to face down 9+ Unkiliax throughout a single game. This makes for an impossible mountain for any board based deck to climb.
What might get nerfed:
Lamplighter - The only way this card can be nerfed is if Unkiliax gets hit extraordinarily hard. It is currently the only thing that can reliably get around a board of them. Until Unkiliax sees a nerf, this should not be changed.
Tidepool Pupil - At 1 mana it makes it way too easy to get extra Seabreeze Chalice. I can see this moving to 2 mana to slow things down a turn.
Concierge - If Tidepool Pupil does not get hit then this would be on the chopping block. Either increasing the mana or not allowing spells to be refuced to less than 1.
I have a pretty darn good track record on calling nerfs. These are the biggest problems at the moment.
And all these get nerfed, and what then? Does anyone truly believe the game will change for the better? Do they think it won’t reach this state again in a few months, with the team once again apologizing for the game’s condition without offering any real reassurance of meaningful improvement?
As long as you play under the current conditions before the nerfs, you’ll continue to play after them, and you’ll play again when the game inevitably reaches this state again.
The game has no “problems” as long as someone is willing to play, so I advise you to stop using that word because it doesn’t apply to you.
I think all of these are safe targets and I 100% agree that lamplighter is keeping zilliax in check right now and shouldn’t be touched unless zilliax is. My biggest issue with zilliax is that they can keep ressurecting multiple copies. If those cards were changed to say “X different minions”. It wouldn’t be quite as bad.
No reason to do this, best lamplight deck is tier 2
xD
Absolutely unneccesary and would punish Mage, as well - the drink is the culprit. Other drinks are more expensive, why does this one cost 1? Make it cost 2 and increase the dmg to 3, and we’re gucci, no more infinite dmg in one turn
Highly unlikely, considering the mistakes you made with this one
Pirate Shaman needs to be hit somehow, and I’m not really sure how, the deck is too strong and well-rounded
According to VS stats, Paladin should also get hit, since two of his decks are constantly tier 1. It’s time for that to change. It would be RIDICULOUS to nerf anything now without touching a Paladin, because it will skyrocket to global 60% winrate otherwise.
I’ve been surprised by their takes too many times to even attempt my own predictions. I could probably guess a few, but will surely miss a few, so no point in trying
At this point, I’m genuinely looking forward to the patch notes just to have some laughs and I’ll adapt accordingly. Broken class or two? Nothing new!
They are nerfing Concierge and trying to compensate with a buff to Service Ace. This simply won’t work. Now this Mage deck needs a miracle, not a buff.
Yeah, I can’t believe they really went for Concierge and Lamplight. Disgusting. Actually nerfing 6 tier 2 decks without touching a single tier 1 deck. Epic fail.
@ TheDukeOfTBC according to this, you hit 3/6, 50%
I could be wrong, but something tells me that the Concierge nerf will be a cost increase, and everyone who is celebrating now will be angry when the patch notes come out. It’s the only way the change would make sense.
Also, Zilliax’s nerf is applied to the Ticking Module (4 mana 1/3, costs (1) less for each minion in play), meaning Unkilliax remains, but is “nerfed” indirectly through the Station and Boom changes.
My track record remains. You keep trying to guess what Blizzard will do based off of top tier decks (in legend I am guessing) while I make my predictions based off of player experience. The things I listed make people feel awful to play against and I was right!
While Unkiliax did not get hit directly, the things that abuse it were. Which is in the same vain.
