I don’t know what most people think, but in my opinion, the themes for Hearthstone expansions have been a bit “lukewarm” lately, and I personally think the problem lies in the themes themselves. So here we are. What would you like to see the game explore?
In my opinion, there are a few ideas that haven’t been tried yet that could be fun:
A story where Hearthstone saves the world of Warcraft like in other card games, but written as a parody of those other games.
An expansion about time travel where we could finally have more mechanics involving the theme, such as:
Sending cards to the future.
Going back a few turns in the past.
Adding cards from the past into the deck at a certain cost.
An expansion about mysteries to expand secrets(ideally to all classes as the expansion gimmick) in the standard mode.
People often say that disruption is problematic in the game, but we actually have a mechanic that helps with that. It would be great to have an expansion that promotes a kind of “cold war” where players need to be careful with what they play.
I think we should do more themes centered around iconic wow raids
Ulduar
The isle of thunder
Sunwell
I have some thoughts on the second one, my original idea was a pandaria expansion since it’s one of the main ones they haven’t done yet
Monk class introduced
This expansion would be centered around the tribes of pandaria which are : Mogu, jinju, Hozen and mantid and also the different efects of the sha
Pandaren would of course also be included and they could be played in any class
Mogu : Shaman, warrior, druid
Hozen: Paladin, Demon hunter, Hunter
Mantid: warlock, Death knight, Rogue
Jinju: Priest, mage, monk
I’m still figuring out a keyword but i want to do tribe synergies, like for example the mantids’s whole thing is that they cull the weak so only the strongest of them survive, so an idea would be that you play weak mantid cards at the beggining and as they die they make your future mantid cards stronger
Same, we’ve had enough Necromancy sets for a while, and enough dragging on about the famous colored dragonflights . I want either the return of Toki Time Tinkerer, and the other MONSTER HUNTERS. not the monsters. or for an expansion showing the League of E.V.I.L during their “transitionary period” like how badlands showed what Explorers was up to during their gap year in history.
As for a Warcraft related one I will make the mistake of asking for a mists of pandaria theme too in hopes it helps make “Monk” class real.
I would like to see expansions themed around certain classes, or certain powerful being in the WoW lore or other WoW lore stuff… For example, an expansion around WoW bosses Akma’hat, Garr, Julak-Doom, Mobus, Poseidus, and Xariona, like they did before with the Old Gods.
And i agree with you… lately i feel like i play a kids game… lol. But they should understand that while they try to make it more appealing to the kids, the ones that spend money are the grown ars people.
but the monk class is kind of not real anymore? There aren’t many other classes for Blizzard to launch next year, will they pass the evoker that launched ‘‘now’’ in front of the monk?
I would love to see a Isle of Thunder set. It was A tier content in WoW when it was first released.
Honestly I would like to see a return to story telling blocks like they did with League of Villains and the Heroes. Its very reminiscing of how MTG does their set blocks.
But for standalone sets I would like to see themes related to Pandaria, Mount Hyjal, or even Deepholm. Some raid speicific sets would be pretty neat too.
I have a hard time responding to this question and I suspect it’s because even the Devs appear to have a hard time releasing expansion themes; WoW itself started running themes that make little sense or are repetitive; what chance does Hearthstone have which has 3 expansions a year?
I like the Ulduar idea mainly because it was my favorite raid of all time. But isn’t it a bit limited and the bosses in there don’t follow necessarily a solid theme in all cases?
Why did I have to keep using the words “Star slime” around the devs who long to go back to making Starcraft content, some- if not all of next expansion is about to be my fault.
