I have played ten matches today. I won’t play tomorrow. This just sucks.
All ranks are D5-1 all day everyday and I don’t want that. At all.
What a stupid, stupid choice they have made.

i have no idea what are you trying to say …all i understood is your rank is diamond 5?
I read the patch notes and I actually don’t understand the difference in matching as it pertains to who you’re being matched with.
there is nothing to scroll that was your second post on this thread and oyu didnt explain what you are complaining about
ive read the patch so i know its by mmr now so whats wrong with it ?
Well, the star ranks never really meant anything before. Now that they aren’t being referenced it’s pretty obvious.
There are a huge range of skilled players at each actual rank. I just ignore rank unless I’m pushing higher legend anyway. This change just made getting out of the star ranks harder.
I haven’t been playing much ranked, but I am curious what my experience will be. I don’t usually run out of bonus stars anyway so I assume my experience should be relatively the same
I’m wondering what you are seeing that makes you suddenly feel like you’re getting a different experience?
How can you tell a difference? Is player skill so blatantly obvious?
I genuinely couldn’t tell a difference at all.
I guess what I’m saying is, can any player here really play one player and perfectly guess their mmr based on how their opponent played? I don’t think that’s possible, so how can you tell a difference now? What stands out?
i, too, could not tell a difference after a bunch of games.
Anecdotally I can get a sense of it. I was pretty used to my opponents getting noticeably worse on average when hitting the D5-1 range, especially near the end of the month if I was lazy on climbing.
You see a lot of really weird plays like throwing away key cards in a matchup that should beat you, but not when used like that.
Now that’s gone. I’m definitely against my normal legend MMR opponents again. Honestly it hasn’t been a bad thing this month as I was catching more than a few losses to D5 rank floor jank decks I normally wouldn’t have to worry about this month.
65 druid wins to go and I’m done with the class for good. At least even druid seems to be working well for me.
Sounds to me like they are seeing the same top meta decks again and again and hated it, but it’s just 10 games. That would be more about the state of the meta than MM. Even with the previous system, if you are someone who would always reach high diamond or legend I don’t see how this would change much of anything.
Because of your thread. I decided to come back to Ranked and see if I can confirm or deny a difference. (Diamond 7 right now)
I’m playing now, and will let you know what I think.
Edit: Went 1 and 1. Don’t think that indicates much. I will play again tomorrow and get back to you.
They got noticeable worse as soon as you don’t have bonus stars at most ranks above gold, honestly.
I only saw one really bad gaf today - a priest played lightbomb to remove my large, wide board and then conceded when it didn’t work due to the Paladin Titan capping damage.
But I get hard stuck facing decks that I hate right now, stuff that I didn’t see much when matched by rank. I’ve intentionally not pushed past Diamond for months because I don’t care and hate the tryhard sameness of the meta there… but that’s the whole ladder now forever with this change regardless of stars.
Deck composition is. That’s been my main observation when I run out of bonus stars. I start seeing more decks like mine (weirdo homebrew).
OK this is what I don’t get. Let me know how your play experience varies to this:
Before change:
After the change:
Tell me how your D5-D1 games are stronger? I don’t get it. Or is it that it’s NOT stronger and now your D5-D1 experience is the same as your Bronze - D5 experience where all the decks you face are varied?
Like I legitimately do not get how your Bronze - D5 experience now feels like your old D5-D1 experience. It doesn’t make any sense. That’s backwards from reality and backwards from the change. The change did NOTHING to you Bronze-D5 experience. It’s literally the same experience (if you had 10 bonus stars)
So, the ONLY change that happened is your D5-D1 experience…so how can your B5-D5 experience all feel like your old D5-D1? Nothing changed there.
UNLESS you had no bonus stars and your MMR is higher. That’s the only thing I can see making sense. But if that was the case…it’s the same as bonus stars because bonus stars have always been based on MMR.
My D5-1 games changed from ranging between everyone that currently happened to currently be in that range to exclusively upper legend players. The average game got significantly harder for me in this range compared to before the patch.
I’m not really the common person here though. Most shouldn’t notice it much.
Yes, this I get. But Neon is saying ALL his games now feel like D5-D1…including his Bronze games, etc. That’s what I don’t get.
Overall, the only thing that changes is your D5-D1 experience.
People just won’ t be happy with any kind of matchmaking. Everyone wants easy wins against opponents that play like they are starting to have a stroke.
That’s probably most of your games right? Unless you play all the time.
If you consistently get D5 every month, your D5-D1 experience will be virtually the same. Most everyone will see the same experience.
So most people won’t see a change.
The only people who would see a change would be new players or bad players who get to D5 for the first time…their D5-D1 run would be easier, and hardcore players who are hitting high legend but just out of reach of 11 star bonus. That’s it. Everyone else it’s the same.
Sounds like an assumption to me . Understand the thought process but personally I’d still want to see the data.
