I mean not literally; but they admitted recently that they do not match solely by MMR but they match pre-Legend only with pre-Legend if they can and only in extreme circumstances they may do something else (e.g. a dumpster Legend that keeps losing matching with a top Diamond); that means it’s extremely easier to rank at the end of the month because most of those who go Legend already are there and they are for the most part “banned” from matching with pre-Legend.
One could say that makes it easier; of course it does; but it makes it a completely different experience in terms of difficulty at the start VS the end of the month if you are not in Legend.
Personally I’ve lost count of how many months diamond 10 feels harder than diamond 5 at the start of the month, because if it’s the 25th+ of a month: diamond is much worse players.
I feel like this topic isn’t nearly as dangerous or revelatory in truth, as your sensationalist tone makes it out to be. For starters, how do we define “dumpster Legend?” What’s the cutoff, lower than 1k? Lower than 10k? Secondly, “extreme” is a, well, extreme adjective to use. This definitely happens several times a day to said “dumpster legend” players like myself.
So? The earlier you make it into legend the bigger the achievement and the higher your legend ranking will be. What about it is unusual or unfair to you.
We can probably define it easily. If you enter Legend now and someone else is already lower than you. That means they are dumpster Legend because they didn’t even beat 50% by far.
It’s subjective of course and I wasn’t talking about specific people,
just mentioned there it’s possible for some Legend to match.
Difficult games at season start, long queues for difficult games at season end.
The game is still trying to match you by MMR, it just waits a bit before adding the legend players to your pool. They aren’t banned from it, the system just looks for someone around your MMR not yet in legend first. If it fails to find one, back to legend queues.
Not exactly. They announced a couple of major patches ago “now it ONLY matches by MMR”. They took it back recently since they admitted it still bars Legend from matching with pre-Legend in most cases.
Yes it was, it’s also why they don’t show you your win rate or games played in stats, only wins. Coddling insecure players drives myriad design decisions.
While that may be true, that isn’t why they got rid of showing matchmaking ranks. It’s because as the game was steadily dying many years ago they were no longer able to find suitable matches for players. That’s why we get Gold vs Diamond/Legend now, for example. Used to be you were matched with a “worthy opponent”. Now it’s matched with “someone we can find at the moment now that our game is dead and it doesn’t matter you can’t see anyway, have fun please spend money!”
When you laugh at people at least make sure you are correct. They took back that it only matches by MMR. They admitted recently that it still bars most Legend players with matching with pre-Legend.
Only in your mind,it makes no real difference. There is high legend (top 1000?)where you get 1 more reward and dumpster legend where you get one less. Your starting rank makes no difference unless you dont play games. If you win you climb, if you lose you fall. Rank 1200 and rank 5000 has no difference. You made legend you got a fraction less then the best possible reward and if you did not have it you got a card back.
Sorry carnivore that is how I assumed it always worked based off observations. no real suprise.
What are you talking about. A few months ago the Devs announced the players will be exclusively matching based on MMR. Then recently they changed that and said no they will not be matching by MMR alone because they are barring players from matching with pre-Legend players in most cases.
That means inside pre-Legend at the start for the month you can find players of high MMR who are usually in Legend,
and at the end of the month high-MMR inside pre-Legend will not be easily matching with the same MMR.
