Yesterday I faced pirate warrior 3 times in a row. Both of which the enemy generated Smite turn 1, the 3rd time they got gorehowl turn 1. Now this happens to me. What are the odds of that? I’m not whining about getting unlucky, because obviously RNG is part of the game. But the amount of pirate warriors I’m facing that have been getting insane highroll turn 1 this week is just ridiculous.
I just don’t think it is mathematically possible, considering the number of pirates in this game, specially after the miniset.
Why do the devs think this type of crazy highroll is healthy for the game? Why didn’t they nerf the quest already? Because they don’t want us to get dust refund? Did they really think nerfing 1 health of a 1 cost minion would BALANCE the deck???
Why did they nerf Shaman’s quest to the ground when the deck was nowhere close of being so unfun/toxic to play against, nor as strong either?
I understand Pirate Warrior can be played around. Depending on the deck I’m playing, most of the time I don’t have much trouble against them. But when they get these game winning highrolls, that make them win the game instantly because of it when they should LOSE instead, that becomes so frustrating.
Make Juggernaut not generate pirate/weapons that cost more than 5. Increase the quest requirements so they don’t always play Rokara turn 6/7 guaranteed. Boom.

Indeed, even after the release of AV and the recent patch, Quest Warrior is still tier one and only slightly worse performing than Face Hunter (54.58% vs 54.41% in legend (past three days)). I was quite surprised to not see it touched whatever. Some good news is that its popularity has and continues to drop. Right now, that is at 7.7%. Nevertheless, still among the most played classes.
What I’m wondering is, what would be the fallout if Quest Warrior were nerfed to tiers two, three, or four. For one example, it looks like, to a degree, it’s holding back mage as well as some DH and rogue. I think I’d rather be ganked by a filthy pirate than to be exploded by an OTK.

I personally welcome as many pirate warriors as possible; Kurtis otk dh preys on them, and handlock has a pretty good win rate if you can burn through your deck quickly enough to start the massive heals
As dh, I think I’ve only lost to one pirate warriors in a dozen or so matches because they highrolled a Smite without me having drawn any of the 7-8 leech cards in my deck. As lock, pirate warriors has a really tough time dealing with giants.
May I ask what variation of DH you’re using? It looks like only DR DH has favorable results against Quest Warrior.
Edited for typo.

The problem is not the deck that I’m using. In that specific game I was at 25 health before the first turn of juggernaut. I dropped to 13 the next turn. They only played ONE card that turn. And still managed to do 16 damage. Even if my deck is favourable against qwarrior, I don’t think anyone can survive double smite from juggernaut back to back.
In standard, I believe there are 26 pirates. Your opponent has about a 4% chance to get Smite.
Warriors have 10 weapons, so gorehowl is a 10% chance. (Unless they can get non-warrior weapons, but I don’t remember seeing that).
The chance that your opponent will get one or the other (or both) on a turn is about 13.5%.
The chance that your opponent will get one or the other (or both) on three consecutive samples is about 1.8%, or about one in every 55 tries.
One in fifty five is not good odds, but it is far from impossible.
Shuffle a deck of cards, and pick one. Whichever one you got had only one chance in 52. Must be rigged.

Oh yes, just because the odds of this happening are 1.8%, it makes the situation fair? What is your point? Of course there is a percentage of chance. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s extremely unlikely to happen, and when it does, it leads to frustration. Bruh
Oh really? What a brilliant conclusion.

I think Golbx linked a similar one above, but it was a deck featured recently by Nohandsgamer. Average win rate might me different at legend perhaps, I’m only around diamond 4, but the spell damage fel DH seems incredibly strong against pirate warriors. Most games I end with 25+ hp without having dipped much below 15.
I think part of the learning curve to the deck though is learning how different the mulligan is for different matchups.
Oh damn, that’s really rigged. 2 smites in a row.
There are definitely games that are rigged where Blizzard wants you to lose by any means necessary, to force a 50% winrate

It’s boring playing pirate warrior in wild 4 of 6 games. I do think something needs to be done to balance out the meta. Seems like the only decks I ever play against are pirate warrior and odd quest hunter. If it’s broken in wild its most likely broken in standard too.

I don’t think I have a problem piloting the deck at all. I’m at D2. Have you ever won against a pirate warrior that generated mr. smite back to back from the juggernaut? I suppose not.
Having played as pirate warrior for over 200 games this season alone, I have never seen that happen even once.
I suggest you watch the replay if you’re so skeptical.
I am not doubting the possibility of an unlikely event happening to you, I am pointing out that your experience isn’t typical and shouldn’t be presented as such.
While someone eventually wins the lottery, that doesn’t make the event common based on the number of games played.

One Mr. Smite generated from the juggernaut is pretty much game winning in most scenarios. I am sure you lost once against a Pirate Warrior because they got Smite from the Juggernaut.
I’m just expressing how excruciating it can be when that happens to you.
Smite from Jug is brutal, but honestly out of all the quest warriors I faced, it only happened like 3-4 times.

Yes everything is rigged and you are a victim blah blah blah blah big evil corporation blah blah blah
They won’t do any significant nerfs to pirate warriors until the Deadmines mini set is no longer for sale. So don’t expect to see any till the next mini set release. Op pirates are still making them money and that’s all they care about.

No, but these are statistical anomalies. You’re going to have an overwhelming win rate vs pirate warriors when piloting the spell damage variant in my experience, and if you get unlucky with juggernaut smite rng, you accept it and more on/continue with the positive win rate

!!! Important info
Remember! It’s nothing to do with "1 card is rigged ". Whole game is rigged and it causes some OP card to give best value outcome, which here is Smite. Game decided that Smite card is fair to give, so it did.
Overall it does not matter what card it is, if game think you big noob, you loose.
Cards are designed that you have chance for utter bad card and good card. But if game is rigged, then it’s always good outcome in some cases, which make OP card super strong. Lowkey proof of rigging.
