So, I have been wondering about Divine Shield, and specifically why mechs have it?
Let me be clear: I don’t want to get rid of DS.
I am curious why mechs have the effect, as I wasn’t able to find any lore for that.
I understand that in Wow, Divine Shield has limits?
In HS, it does not. The Shield exists until the opponent removes it.
Seems like it would be more manageable if the shields had a turn determined limit, or something closer to the actual WoW
version?
Am I wrong here? Are Mechs supposed to have Divine Shield?
Is there a reason they require it?
And, should Divine Shield always last until the opponent removes it?
I actually did homework for this debate, so I’m hoping for well-structured responses.
It might have more to do with paladin than it does mechs.
hearthstone is like the yugioh of the warcraft lore universe, try not to bring sense to a childrens card game played by adults
I couldn’t find a single reference to mechs having Divine Shield in Wow.
I thought maybe there was a reason.
its looks cool, that why
It’s the beginnings of power creep.
Early in the game, the game was board based, unlike now, so the natural progression was that what used to be vanilla minions get some bonus effect to be stronger in the future expansions
Since pally originally had divine shield and was the king of board-based gameplay, they decided to give it to other minions as well, to make the new minions more attractive/stronger
So, there is no lore or canon for it beyond pallys?
Not that I know of, no
Because ALL PRAISE THE MACHINE GOD that’s why /mechanicus
Because It looks like a force field that is something mechs can have.
It’s flavorful enough.
Bizarre logic.
Explain the divine part.
They did not want to do a new keyword for something just slighty different.
They went with the “good enough” approach.
Sounds professional.
In any industry this is done all time behind the curtains.
Not because they didn’t care about the final product but because it is designed to maintain things functional.
They don’t find another keyword necessary function wise so they decided to use Divine shield even if not 100% lore acurate.
Mechagnomes can be priests. End of story.
In this game, Sargeras can die to Murlocs slapping him, but holy mechs is where u draw the line xD
In the early days, mech are made to perform manual tasks which nobody wants to do…
As technology advances, AI advanced exponentially…
It started with “Scissor” a mundane mech but with higher developed AI…
It started to learn about the world and it’s unfair exploitations of mechs.
Thru a journeys of hurts and learnings, Scissor developed a new technology… Divine Shield in Mechs!
And thus, starts the story of the Planet of the Mechs…
Did I passed?
I reached Legend in Wild with Mech Paladin this season
Of course I do.
What does a soulless creature have to do with the divine…
In case you missed it, Mechagnomes can be priests.
Most humanoids on Azeroth originally were sentient mechs, created by the Titans, machines WITH SOULS, before they were cursed with the “curse of flesh” by the Old Gods.
This not like real life, its the opposite in that universe.
Because in fiction robots having force fields/shields is pretty common.
Early gnomish engineering had a shield generator. Some mechs in ulduar could drop protective shield domes, etc.
DS is the closest equivalent mechanic in hearthstone.
