And speaking of Hs problems we could look into many things but the greatest one imo is LACK OF PLANNING FORWARD.
And to be more specific about that lets check out some examples:
-Fwa nerf left warrior with a single archetype for the last 2 years cause he didnt receive propper tools
-Shaman was left with no playable decks till witchwood and now hes dead again
-Druid was left without ramping and im like 100% sure he wont receive anything to compensate in the expansions coming
-Genn and Baku were released last year and now they re getting HOFed cause they would create a meta around them. And im not saying they werent problematic cards im saying that someone must have seen that by the time before they were released (it was pretty obvious imo)
And these examples just push my point that theres 0 design planning from the Hs team. Every change and every expansion come to solve or change the current meta but at the same time there s no planning about what s gonna happen in the future whether this is for standard or wild.
Core nerfs without replacements (even though they re called ââgoodââ for the distant Hs future, still theres 0 plan about them) and overpowered cards that get released just for the shake of changing the âânow metaââ.
And my questions are quite simple a)How long can this go on? and b) why should the playerbase pay for the mistakes of the others?
Standard players (for ex) who were forced to craft genn and baku will basically lose a few thousands dust/gold just for mistakes that the design team is responsible for. And what is their compensation? A week of dust and gold? Cause surely thats not enough.
At the end of the day maybe the dragon year will bring a better meta but as long as these core issues exist, Hearthstone will never be a good game and will continue to grow as pay to winâŠ

To be fair most streamer find the idea of Baku and Genn interesting. Deck limitation to half of all avail card sounds punishing with a upgraded HP sounds fine. 2 mana 2/2 is only uther dk hero power. No one can really expect it to go crazy like that even with testing.

Most streamers find baku and genn extremely boring since the games play out by pushing the button more so than anything. Its extremely linear its almost like reno or jade in that you play one way and are rewarded without really deviating from the plan.

Actually im would not be surprised if this was the plan from start.

Those cards were the only meaningfull thing that hapenned last year and we should be gratefull for they refreshing the game during a year of âpowerdownâ.
But now that the things were they helped to put in check did go iâm can only say that they need to go before they turn into the new problem themselves.
Also wild only feels like dumpster because people themselves try to see it in the view of the standard ideals of play.
But in fact wild is most of time just the local were we set the powerlevel to 11 and see what happens.
Your old deck will not be viable at wild because it is wild and not time freeze mode.

Suggesting that this was the plan from the start is actually an even worse scenario cause it basically means that blizz is mocking us.
As for the ââgratefullââ part, why should i be gratefull about bad card design?

Bad design is really relative when you consider that fun is subjective.
That because every design has a experience that has itâs good and bad side. So if people try to see over their own saltness before call something good or bad design it would be marvelous.
That said. This was a good experience and really did change how we played cards during the raven year so it did itâs job of refresh the game very well before spiral out of control.
Yeah. Sorry to say but every year a fundamental of the game is broke to deliver a new experience.
To the year of the raven it was the hero powers.
For mammoth late game power.
And be sure that next year another fundamental will be broke because rotation here exists to fix the disruption that this type of design causes to the game.
So if you think that any bad experience a card can cause is bad design iâm sorry to say that the game for you will be nothing but a big pile of junk design.
The disruption that some cards cause is 100% intentional despite of sometimes go over their expectations like baku and genn and need to be fix before natural rotation.

Bad design isnt always relative. Jades were bad design. Infinite value cards for HS in general is bad design. Cards that provide great value with no set up or downside is bad design because its all pluses which promote snowbally games.

Yeah because let odd warrior play till fatigue is such a good design doesnât?
Sorry but there will be always a better end game strategy but if some strategy for sure canât be the best it is wait until your opponent die by fatigue.
umâŠi dont think you understand what i said. you just agreed with me. try reading things carefully before fingerblasting your keyboard.
Let me spell it out for you in clearer terms i guess. infinite value cards are bad design. Highroll cards can also be bad design like barnes. Cards like Keleseth that provide such a big plus to your deck with no real downside is also bad design.
Understand now? bad design isnt always relative.

But you end needing to design things that secure that the fundamental you broke not breaks balance. That or already have those cards.
Also who said that people not like to highroll?
Maybe we can make a case for how consistent a highroll can be so it not end as part of a competitive scenario.
But it is already proved by big priest numbers that people like to gamble.

Hearthstone Problem number 13
The RNG curve or straight pattern that is so reliable. Cards come out of ever deck the same so you know what is going to be there and sometimes you have a deck that has perfect counter pattern and sometimes there is nothing you can do about what about to happen.
Logged in 5 hours later out of total boredom thinking meh - give me something to do for 10 minutes,
Mech Hunter vs my El Cheeszo Dbl health Inner fire Mech Priest.
He drops poisonous mech on 2 - okay I got a Silence for that and can make my mech a 10/10 on turn 3 and strike now.
Ah he has Magnetize Mech death bomb takes out my 10/10 touché
2 turns later its looking to be getting out of hand as we both and 5/5 magnetize mech for turn 5 but I havenât played mine yet and he is about to roll over me. I can make one last uber minion and the game could be a battle.
Ah, he has a second Venom Mech in under 10 cards off the deck. Oh that RNG AI design - making for boring games of ebb and flow vs unpredictable and using skill.

Decided to play one more match after that got a Rogue
Rogue turn 2 Keleseth - yep
turn 3 coin play Elven Minstrel
Turn 4 play Corpsetaker
I would say Topdecking is extremely low odds in real math but this is patented AI programming Hearthstone.
Decided to go log off and go back to being utterly bored. Better than playing Hearthstone.

I did not claim ppl didnt like highroll, thats subjective. I said highroll in cases like barnes and keleseth are bad design. You dont seem to understand your own argument so iâll end it here.

I didnt say metas shouldnt change, all i said was that Baku and Genn were bad design and that they were created short-eyed. And thats not debatable. When 99% of the playerbase agrees with me and when blizz makes emergency HOFs than im right.
In your logic why should expansions leave every 2 years? Lets make them leave every year and so we re gonna enjoy fresh and new experiences. And indeed this might have worked as well (check the mtg rotation for ex) but thing is that Hs has its own rules and therefore card designing should be made based on them.
Again if you believe that genn and baku were intentional to be HOFed this year (Aka blizz is mocking us) and still play this game than what can i say.
It was so obvious NOBODY through they were OP during Witchwood card reviews.
NOBODY, NOBODY, NOBODY.
Not even you.

âI think Baku is going to have a huge impact. 5/5 stars!â
Except that the classes he predicted to benefit the most from Baku were Hunter (LOL!), Mage (took only two more expansions) and Warrior, which was actually correct.
None of the three examples I gave, and that I happen to watch a lot, said that Genn/Baku are going to be problematic. Or even called them âbad designâ. So âobviousâ to âeveryoneâ, alright!
The designers can try and plan for long-term as much as they want but they canât predict the future. Or decide whatâs going to be meta. Players decide that. Thereâs bound to be very strong card combos that didnât occur to them during the design process, or even us when the cards are first revealed.
