It just seems like comically bad design this expansion that Renethal and Denth were made arguably the best most game changing cards of the expansion and yet Paladins main legendary locks them out of using either card. Is it any wonder that Paladin is in a bad state when it cant use these two activate easy mode cards? Denth basically is a game ender and probably about the most overpowered thing the games ever seen. It allows people to play the game baby mode where they just turtle til they OTK. And that strategy is made all the more effective as well as countless other decks by Renthal. Anyone can just dump Murlocks, Mage spells, Dragons or other cards into a deck and make a halfway functioning deck with an advantage with that card…yet Paladin is locked out. Iv seen people playing decks and archetypes this expansion I havnt in years…yet never Paladin because they cant take advantage of easy mode like the other classes.
This just feels like such terrible design and oversight. Its really not shocking in an expansion where most other decks are running a GIANT game breaking life steal card, as well as a card to give them 10 extra cards/HP why Paladin is in a poopsvile without a ride out of town. And to make it so those cards come on battle pass to boot. Its like they handed the entirety of the game but Paladins an activate easy mode button.
you can have these neutral cards in your deck… when they are in your hand you then can play the countess. it was the same for things like zephrys you could have duplicates just dont play him till you can activate it
well yes thats a solution… like i said this was a thing with zephyrs. also you do realize the countess is a turn 9 play right? there plenty of chance you will have the other two cards in hand by then.
one way to fix this is to get the wyrmrest purifier if playing on wild that way all neutrals in your deck can be paladin cards and then you can play Countess without any worry
no. after wyrmrest purifier is played, the neutral cards in your deck will be transformed into paladin cards. then you can play countess. if that no works. then it is a bug with the wyrmrest purifier
but you would lose denatrius brann and theotar no? the whole point of the post is that he wanna play countess and still get the combo from denatrius/brann
It never occurred to you that Wyrmrest Purifier is also a neutral? Why would you want to create redundancy AND make your already awful pure deck worse than it is?
Yep that would work. It would be reliant on luck again though. Now personally I have no problem playing a deck like that. I dont give a crap about the meta or climbing ranks. However many of the exact same freaking people here who call you stupid for not having Mutanus/Theo in every deck or for playing outside whats considered “ideal for the meta” re the exact same freaking folks that will suggest people play off meta/non ideal cards to “fix” a problem in the meta.
The same people who will suggest a solution like Wyrmrest to imply there isnt a problem or fix needed for something like The Countess are the same exact people laughing at people complaining here playing decks trying to run solutions like that. No matter how a problem is explained, they have an explanation for how its not bad design.
If the wyrmrest purifier doesn’t fix this, what should the card text say for The Countess say instead? it has to end with", Add 3 Legendary Invitations to your hand".
Ya because playing 3 free Legendaries all with +2+2 from Dun Baldar Bridge for 0 Mana is useless. Totally cant be comboed into Lightrays the same or next turn for 0 or close to 0 mana either.
Its not a bad card and there are more combos out there. It just needs to not have the neutral limitations and im positive it would see play. Then again, Paladin is a class people love to underestimate because against people are meta obsessed.
I feel you are being combative. I also feel you changed the bar. So many people here so ready to be combative IMO. I literally stated 0 cost. You are hung up on the 2 cost because you are not realizing the card can be comboed and have its card reduced. I end up playing The Countess for 7 mana. Bridge was played a turn prior and usually along side several other minons to get the +2+2 as bridge is played. The Countess comes out next turn for 7 and is a 9/9 minion at that point. Lightray also combos with the invitations as I said and you are choosing to ignore or failed to ever read that.
There are further combos to be had as well. Iv won quite a few games by taking legends from the invitation with big every turn effects and than hiding them behind Warhorse driven silverhands and other taunts in deck.
Combos and potential are there. And you reset the bar. You first said it couldnt be playable. I showed it already is even if its not meta defining. You now are saying it would be playable but not relevant…but I say your saying that without listening properly to the combos that are obvious, let alone the ones the games best players could sniff out.
