The $80 mega bundle makes perfect sense

To be honest, I’m pretty tempted to buy the mega bundle even though I have 10,000 gold waiting for next expansion.

The following are my reasoning:
_ Priest is the only class that I don’t have alternative hero yet. So if I missed this deal then I would have to wait another 2-3 years.
_ Gold can be used for purchasing the new adventure.
_ I would need a lot of cards to cover for rotation, so 100 packs might not be enough.
_ Golden legendary. Considering you get one normal legendary in 20 packs, a free golden one totally worth extra $30.

Do you think so and are you going to buy the mega bundle?

Probably, I usually buy the 50 ones and that’s it but I’m happy for this rotation

I’m going to buy the mega bundle because it’s good value and comes with the hero portrait. It’s a lot of packs, so I don’t necessarily need to buy more. I rarely buy packs outside of bundles anyway.

And I will also have at least 7000+ gold by the time the expansion is out, so I can always buy more packs with gold later. Or indeed those solo adventures.

Im going to buy the mega bundle and use my gold for the solo stuff. I havent bought a pre release ever. However, I feel like I should as I have most of the cards for every expansion going back to ungoro and having a step up in getting the cards for the new expac just seems like a good decision haha.

Although the wife doesn’t seem thrilled about 80 bux going to a game haha. Its either that or a 2 grand guitar amp lol.

Your welcome Blizzard haha.

The new hero we used to have for free as well as the new legendary card we got every expansion since mammoth (not sure about when it started) are now locked in the bundle.

Buying the bundle now has more incentives, not sure if that’s good or bad.

look at the state of the game then and now. completely different. we have had terrible expansions, devs laughing while knowing how broken shudderwock was, people jumping from blizzards sinking ship at the highest positions, etc.
but dont get me wrong. its possible that it will be here. never underestimate the idiocy of the public to hand over their money for the chance to play a pixelated, rigged slot machine. it literally takes no work to maintain, there are no events to run, maybe once per expansion three cards might get a change. the janitor could run this game now. and with hiring practice history like hiring the pizza delivery guy to run your games and hiring a guy who hit legend on your game i wouldnt be surprised if the janitor is actually running the game.

I’m thinking about maybe buying it, wished it was a 50€ purchase though for the hero portrait with maybe less other benefits. (golden legendary)

50€ or €80 is a big difference.

I won’t spent a penny on this thing out of principle. In a true f2p game, everything is accessible with in-game currency only. Blizzard’s practices of locking the best stuffs behind a paywall is costing the company. It’s no coincident that no streamer playing HS anymore.

I’ve only been playing for almost 3 months but I’ll be buying the 80 euro expansion… Plus I have 6k gold saved up so that’s 140 packs… Plus whatever dust I accumulate on top of the 35k dust I’m sitting on plus the HOF dust refund. I’m hoping I can mostly full my collection of standard cards…

Helps that I just got a tax rebate of £500, so it’s an easy decision for me

I don’t have any alternative heroes so I’m happy for the one we get, although I don’t play much priest but maybe there’s an incentive.

Will we also have to pay extra for the extra wings of the expansion? I don’t mind and I will… Seems like it will be fun.

Because of this , if it was 50 euro with the hero then i would buy it, this is just a case of creating a extra bundle so people spend 30 more.

Since when were character cosmetics the “best stuffs” in a game? I agree that it’s a bit absurd to lock things like characters behind an $80 paywall, but to insist that everything (including all cosmetics) be accessible to all f2p player seems a bit selfish. The game has to make money after all, and making things like skins that can only be accessed with real-world currency is one of the most f2p-friendly ways of going about that.

The value of packs deplete off quickly as you open up all the commons and rares, so no, I don’t think the packs are worth it.

I can open a satisfactory amount of cards within 150-200 packs or 3-4 months of actually playing the game. And since playing the game yields enough cards to actually play it, the only time I’ll pay are for cosmetics or extra features that enhance my enjoyment. But if the common denominator is separated by an 80 dollar paywall, then we can just say forget about the cosmetic. Paying for packs is something I can justify if you don’t really play much or don’t have time to and you want a few extra cards. But if you play this every day or you get your quests done, then it’s a huge unnecessary spending to drop 80 when playing the game will yield the same results. Isn’t that the whole point we play it daily?

If I didn’t have Tyrande, I would need to buy this to get the Priest hero.

Oh wait, no I wouldn’t, because I wouldn’t have any Priest cards. Because I would have never played Priest and collected priest cards without Tyrande. See what I did there? Point made in the other thread.

I sort of agree with this it are cosmetics and they aren’t required to play the game, though it would be nice for the more f2p playerbase or atleast not the ‘‘whale’’ playerbase that they have more availability besides spewing out what is considered for some people an big amount of money.

Making bundles which are attractive because of a hero portrait but not because of availability (a reasonable price) can have a counterproductive effect.

If items like these mostly are gonna only be available for big spenders it might actually drive people away from spending.

Having 100 people paying 50 bucks or 50 people paying 80 bucks.
The latter is not the desireable way.

Plus people can get the idea that this will be the hearthstone custom which can also drive them off.

Undecided personally.

This is my last pre-purchase of HS depending on the game through RoS but I am completely undecided on $50 or $80 bundle. The difference between the two is 30 packs and a Priest hero that I probably would not use over Tyrande so… it is $1/pack for 30 additional pack in addition to the 70 (gold) + 50 cards (normal pack) and an golden legend instead of a normal legend.

Luckily I can wait to see all the cards before making a decision =)

Edit: This is why I wish it was “choose a Golden Legendary” as I would easily pay the extra $30 then but since it is random I might not.

Meh… every expac, I wonder if this will be the time I actually spend more than five bucks on a special bundle, and every time I’ve turned it down. But there are a few times where I did mildly regret not throwing money, like the adventures.

Don’t think there’s much difference between the 50 or 80 bundle. I don’t tend to dust legendaries anyways, so the fact there’s a golden one makes little difference. I don’t even use the free alternate heroes except Arthas… albeit troll lady does look pretty nifty, and I probably would use her if I had her.

Anyways, this all depends on whether the set is good enough to be worth using in the first place. A good set doesn’t need a hero portrait or a golden legendary, it needs a healthy core of commons and rares that will last the next two years we’ll be using the set, as well as mechanics that will enable new synergies with old and even Wild cards to freshen the meta. Then we can start talking whether the 50 or 80 bundle is justified.

I’d just like to remind everyone we used to get hero portraits for free, but now they’re locked to $80 preorders.

Use to be one at the start of the year for free, but we’ve had a Portrait along with a pre-order bundle for awhile now as well.

King Rastakhan and I think one other were in pre-order bundles as well.

I will also buy the mega bundle too since I got almost 10k gold atm. I am not getting the other bundle since I am just going to buy the adventure content at the end of next month, I think.

Yup- as long as I’m enjoying the game, I’ll buy every value pack they come out with.

I’ve spent thousands of dollars on other games I became bored of and left over the years, and I’ll doubtlessly spend thousands more.

Thousands of dollars over the course of years is pretty cheap in the long run. Spend your money on whatever you want to. If you don’t want to spend it on games, that’s your call. I won’t judge you either way, any more than I’ll care.
