The deck that made me return after a long time, because I like StarCraft.
It didn’t need to be nerfed, it was the worse of the SC decks. Artanis nerf was OK, but Crono boost was to harsh, it killed the deck.
Last i checked colossus still deals infinite damage to everything and the deck is very much alive.
It’s literally one of the best decks in the meta ATM.
I Agree the chrono nerf was too much!
5 cost spells that don’t clear the board are too slow vs aggression.
Having a couple ways to play it at 3 mana does keep it playable.
It was for a few hours after launch, it is very quickly being pushed out of the meta 24 hours later.
It was still being played in Top 10 twelve hours ago. I wouldn’t say it’s being pushed out yet. It’s still a very good deck contrary to the OP.
I do love running into it with my imbue mage list. Aes/Tree/Hataaru get set up way faster than Colossus, so I have like a 95% win rate against it over 20 games.
So uhh, bring on more of them!
(Not even exaggerating here, yesterday they were everywhere and they basically carried me to legend)
I completely lost the will to play… I spent a lot of dust to make my protoss deck, and now it’s losing all the games. Sure I can full refund it, I just don’t have reason to keep playing whaterver the “meta decks” is now.
Protoss Mage wasn’t the problem.
Armor DH for sure Sure. Egg Hunter and Location warlock maybe.
But hitting Protoss was way too far.
R.C Rampage was the best card by winrate, didn’t got touched in the patch, and now is the 6th best card, behind 2 cards that still used on Egg hunter decks…
But YEA, lets nerf protos instead for some reason…
I said this in the other thread, but here you are adapting to the game and winning instead of telling everyone mage needs to be nerfed again because of whatever flavor of the month (non-interactive, toxic, bad design… take your pick) we are using in place of “I do not want to have to work for my wins so nerf my opponents’ decks.”
The Devs basically failed to do their job. Nerfing egg hunter cards was supposed to kill them (from a high play rate). Instead they’re still top 3.
It’s a very obnoxious deck even if you pilot it because there is absolutely no creativity after you get the 2-3 moves it has.
PS oh it can also go “late game” and play a zerg minion for 2 damage, what “creativity”.
I’m facing decks that build some crazy boards so fast. I even got crazy Lucky to discover a Blizzard every single time I needed (and risked to), but still, you need to play an Artanis to be able to pay for the Colossus, and that’s something you can’t afford to, because 1 turn of not cleaning/ holding board is death.
Mage can play a spell for 2-mana that will reduce any FUTURE Protoss spell by 2 AND give you 6 armor.
Chrono Boost costs a mage “3” mana plus you gain life. How lovely…
Rogue is actually the only class that is severely disabled by the cost increase. Playing it early typically helped fight for the board and MAYBE get ahead.
Now once you finally smack enough minions with your face and hopefully control the board, you’ll still be above 10 hp and can decide how to deal with your ~30+ hp opponent… that likely had plenty of armor or life gain.
There is no Protoss rogue.
Oh dear xD
https://www.hsguru.com/meta?format=2&min_games=500&rank=top_legend
Link leads to hsguru’s Meta list, filtered for top 1k legend with min 500 games and what it shows is that Rogue has 3 decks in top 5 decks on that list (and even one with slightly negative winrate, Cycle Rogue)
Guess which place belongs to Protoss Rogue, the deck you claim doesn’t exist? Oh yes, you don’t even have to guess, just follow the link
2nd best deck!!! Arguably, even 1st, when you take into account that it’s played 3-4% more than DK, which means that many more mirrors are to blame for the 0,02% difference in winrates.
Yeah, the patch made protoss rogue stronger because it hit the deck’s counters harder than the rogue itself.
The aggro priest using zealots also remained full strength despite the nerfs.
Protoss mage got weaker.
Artanis has ZERO impact on WR and both Templar have negative WR impact. It’s not the Protoss cards that are winning in those decks. Chrono Boost is one of the worst cards in the deck…
According to your website…

Whoops.
Here is another look where you can see the “coin” also has a negative WR impact. Meaning going second already is a disadvantage for this archetype.
You are playing Artanis second or perhaps later based on your opponents moves. You’ll have to deal with their board before you can freely play an eight mana card.
You can see a variety of cards that are significantly better than all of the Protoss cards now.
It would probably be better to call this the Harbinger of the Blighted deck.

Awww geez at the top 5k Artanis keeps getting worse!!!
Probably due to the higher variety of decks. Up in the highest ranks, things are a little bit more predictable regarding what deck to expect. But it’s not like the card was a stunner anyways.
CHRONO BOOST CANNOT BE ANY MORE DETRIMENTAL TO WINNING THAN IT IS NOW!

Protoss Mage is already a slow deck by necessity. Chrono Boost at 4 mana was already a slow and often awkward play, especially against aggro decks. Sure, mage gets a 2 mana spell that gives 6 armor and reduces a future protoss spell’s mana cost by 2, but 6 armor in this meta is nothing. People need to quit talking like 6 armor is putting that mage out of the kill zone for an aggro deck. Colossus also has to eat through whatever amount of armor your opponent has accrued (and in this meta it seems like armor decks are everywhere) and it takes a LOT of protoss spells to make it worthwhile. By increasing the cost of both chrono and artanis, they exacerbated the issues that Protoss mage has had all along.
Rogues do not have armor…
And anecdotally the last mage I lost to played two shield batteries in tandem from random spell generation and then Artanis for a net 17 life/Armor!!!
They were on 9 life before… and had used at least two other shield batteries.
God I’d love some armor cards that reduce the cost of my Protoss spells. Or other spell generating ones!!! Mage even gets two damage spells!!!
While druid can make Artanis 5-6 mana… depending if you count innervation and assume they didn’t play New Heights. If they did play that ramp, they could play Artanis on turn 4! Hot dog!
Sure, shield battery is a solid card, but protoss rogue is still doing WAY better than protoss mage is right now, even if the protoss cards got a bit weaker thanks to the nerfs to Chrono boost and Artanis.
