I got the Tavish Hero Card from Maestra and played it.
Tess proceeded to not replay it. Is this intended?
You change your class with the hero card, so it’s no longer a card from another class, it’s a card from your current class
I was waiting for a topic like this. I knew people didn’t understand the interaction when I pointed it out when trying to explain why the hero card discovery makes Tess better but people weren’t understanding why.
You’re no longer a Rogue. You play Tess and now all your Rogue cards get replayed but you don’t replay the hero because THAT is your new class so you don’t play cards from that class.
Oh, at least there is something good out of it then.
Still, I find weird playing a Hero card is considered changing class.
Yes but that’s a major plus. You can now build a deck of Rogue cards specifically for replaying every Rogue card again. It’s a huge buff for Tess players.
Well, I did try it by going beyond the first Hero card and what you both said does seem to be the case.
Tess did replay the first Hero card while on the second. I think it even gave me the 5 Armor that comes with and changed the HP back to the first one, and the portrait.
So I went from Frozen Throne Malfurion into Lightforged Cariel, back into Frozen Throne Malfurion while having The Immovable Object. It was a funny sight at least.
It is and it always was.
And?
Does something simply being means it is sensible?
It is sensible when you play a Hero Card you replace your Hero with whatever that hero card was and that include the class of that hero card. It’s more like tag team you tag in the new hero to take over. You don’t magically change the class of the hero you tag in to match whatever class you started with.
Tess will only replay a hero card if you swap back to a rogue hero somehow.
Reno lone ranger remembers what hero you were before you switched to him so that does not reset you to rogue
Or another hero from another class.
So if you discover Hunter then discover Warrior, Tess will replay all the Rogue cards and the Hunter Hero.
Not to burst any bubbles here, but rogue cards are typically AWFUL to replay with random targets.
Typically you choose your RNG generated cards when you play thief rogue (in longer MU) such that replaying them has value. So you pick cards that have limited targets, such as “target random enemies” are ideal.
For example, if you can choose between fireball or mortal eradication as rogue, the latter is much better in nearly all MU because the targeting is limited to enemies, whereas the fireball could hit Tess (and prevent a shadowstep) or your face.
So switching heros + Tess looks good on paper due to the amount of cards you can get replayed, its generally almost always awful because you switch out the pool of cards you carefully selected to have replay value for a random pile of rogue cards.
This is true.
However, in Wild, it’s a completely different story. Immune, evasion, stealth makes it insane.
Plus there are tons of destroy spells that target enemies and sap. So you can erase their entire board easily with a single Tess all while stealthing and going immune, etc. It’s super fun.
