Tavern Brawl: Who's idea was it?

Please don’t submit any more ideas. You are completely incompetent.

I thought they were just repeating old brawls?

This Brawl is why I just came to the forums.

Seems a bit silly.

So far, it looks like your progress gets saved though even if you die.

I missed something lol

What’s the problem with the Brawl? I beat it first try, first deck build not knowing what to expect. Are the secrets different? I was never threatened at any time and I just destroyed him. Maybe I got lucky secrets?

He got both heroes take double damage, both heroes get +3 spell damage and something else. Final secret was drawing tons of cards for both players and reducing cost.

I thought it was kind of fun not knowing what to expect, but he didn’t even put up a fight.

I don´t know, some people here are just opposed to fun. No matter what event is here… competitive, cooperative, crazy whacky, normal boring… there always will be someone to bash it…

I have no issues with this brawl.

It rewards a card back in addition to the pack and it’s a special event.

I literally beat it with a version of impwarlock because I just randomly picked an existing deck in my library with no idea what the brawl would be.

Yeah, this brawl wasn’t tested at all. So I decided just to let autofill make me a deck to see what it’s about. I made it to the second phase where he gets 150 hps, my deck was pretty terrible so I died there. No big deal, looks fun.

Made a priest quest deck with some other stuff mixed in, tried to start a new one. No dice, locked in at the enemy at 150 hps, cards all cost 4, and a bunch of other stuff. Time wasted on quest deck, make a few adjustments, go back in. This time same setup, only he equips a weapon that destroys a mana every round… locking me at 3 mana with a card cost of 4. Die before playing any cards.

So… I toss my smaller cards in favor of some bigger ones, minions all have 7/7 this time, still cost of 4. Get 2 big deathrattle guys out to protect me. He’s got a couple demons, he attacks mine, summons 3 taunters, then casts a spell that destroys them all and does 6 damage to my hero for every one destroyed. Yeah, another insta kill, and I still can’t just play from the beginning, which had looked kinda fun.

After this hype I thought it would be difficult the second form did literally nothing for two or 3 turns and died to my board.

Just want to point out to everyone that steamcleaner hard counters diablo in phase 2, deleting his cards.

If you want to cheat it in second phase, it’s easy. Make a deck that summons a ton of minions and reroll for the effect that makes them 4 Mana 7/7. It applies to all minions, which is dumb. Only thing is that with my luck, I had to restart a few times until I got that passive effect again.

I had no problem with the brawl, beat it first try and killed diablo like 2 turns after he transformed

Didn’t he just cast the spell that destroys them all? He did that to me so many times. And I took 6 damage per minion destroyed, and… the spells casting twice option almost always happened so even if I used deathrattle to summon, it was just more damage. However if my minions gave me armor or healed me, that didn’t get applied until after I took all the spell damage.

If you are fast enough with the summons, you kill him in 2-3 turns. Idk how lucky I was, but had a run where he didn’t play the card you mentioned. I’ve only seen it in my very first run, immediately after killing his first phase. My guess is that his starting hand is truly random.

Yeah, I’m not seeing the issue here. Your progress is saved between runs.
It’s clearly meant to be a 2-phase PvE brawl.

It looks like the secrets are always the same as I beat him 3 times and got the same thing.

One shotted as quest hunter (oh you give me spell damage? you help me draw? you discount my cards? I’m running dragonbane to boot? LOLOLOLOL) and control priest (harder, stole his spell that destroyed all minions and deal face damage based on how many died lolololol)

Failed to one shot when I went with a different boar priest build which was really bad. Died a second time even. But the AI was so stupid I still won in the end (thanks for equipping weapon and running your face into my minions, thanks for playing that big board clear + face nuke spell when there’s no minions on the board :joy:)

That last part with the AI being stupid makes me think the devs aren’t so much as incompetent as Mall always say, but more that they seem to be like college frat boys high on drugs.

In the last phase, this is a brawl where you can play 0 mana cards backed by spell damage, extra draw, and both sides take double damage. And the AI is stupid. This is where you’ll see some reeaally silly stuff that, if you were high or drunk, you might find that really funny :joy:

Someone mentioned a weapon. I never saw the enemy play a weapon.

Diablo actually has at least two weapons:

  1. Tentacles for Arms.
  2. A 4-durability weapon that destroys one of the opponent’s mana crystals each time the user attacks.

Having said that, I played the Tavern Brawl three times with a Renethal Spooky Mage deck. I won the first two time easily in a single run. But the third time, when it looked like I was in easy reach of finishing the Brawl again in one or two turns more, Diablo top-decked his Apocalypse spell, which destroyed my four current minions and hit me in the face for 48 (thanks to the “both heroes have +3 spell damage” and “both heroes take double damage” treasures).

So, it’s not a difficult Brawl to win, but you can die suddenly without anything you can do about it if Diablo top decks the correct card.

UPDATE: okay, I’ve read The Dark Wanderer Hearthstone wiki page. Apparently this first appeared in 2017, and you beat two heroes in a row?

Seems confusing to win a pack without actually beating. both heroes.

I’ve played and won this brawl multiple times on multiple accounts on multiple servers.

From De Other Side shaman worked and won for me.

There are multiple opponent heroes, which differ. There’s that horned demon, and the cloaked darkened face, and… Some start at 150 health. Some start on varying health (I’ve faced as low as 3 health start) but regenerate on death into a hero with150 health.

Starting with three (spell damage, often) secrets is common, but not always. Large spell damage is common, but not always. Double damage to heroes is common, but not always. Are there differences in how the brawl is set up between servers? Maybe.

It’s large, it’s complex, I think it’s entertaining and new-- but I’ve now won the brawl three times on three servers, so I’m moving on. Someone else can investigate and accurately describe the parameters of this brawl.

He’s got a claw that deletes your mana crystals. I saw him use it once, in the 6 or 7 tries I took to beat him.
Now, I know what ya’ll are thinking…, how did it take you that many tries. Well, I have the answer. No cards in my deck above 4 mana, completely no synergy and a lot of cards that never see play. :joy:

Anyway, I quite liked it. I’ll take a pack and a card back any day of the week, yes I will. The card back is pretty sweet too.

I fumbled through a couple of tries with a minion-heavy DK deck that didn’t do well. Switched to a mage deck with a lot of draw and cheap moderate damage spells, and it was a bloodbath.
